Der Udawalawe-Nationalpark, das sechstgrößte Tierschutzgebiet Sri Lankas, liegt 180 km von Colombo entfernt im südlichen Zentralsektor der Insel. Der Park liegt direkt südlich des zentralen Hochlandes, dessen Steilhang eine hinreißende Kulisse bietet. Der Udawalawe-Nationalpark wurde im Jahr 1972 mit dem Ziel gegründet, das Einzugsgebiet des Udawalawe-Stausees zu schützen, der Wasser für die Landwirtschaft und die Wasserkrafterzeugung liefert. Er erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von 30.821 Quadratkilometern und ähnelt damit einem afrikanischen Wildpark.

Sie beginnen Ihre Tour um 11:00 Uhr in Mirissa. Ihr Chauffeur holt Sie von Ihrem Hotel ab und fährt Sie nach Udawalawe. Sie erreichen die Udawalawe um 14:30 Uhr und fahren weiter zum Udawalawe National Park, wo Sie Ihren Safari-Jeep treffen, um eine schöne Jeep-Safari zu unternehmen. Genießen Sie eine dreistündige Safari, bei der Sie den beeindruckenden Udawalawe-Nationalpark erkunden können. Reisen Sie durch die Sümpfe, Wälder und Wiesen des Parks, der in den 1970er Jahren als Schutzgebiet für wild lebende Tiere geschaffen wurde. Sehen Sie die Wasservögel und Elefanten aus Sri Lanka, für die der Park berühmt ist. Erleben Sie die anderen Säugetiere und Vögel sowie die Reptilien, Amphibien und Schmetterlinge. Nach der Safari kehren Sie zu Ihrem Fahrzeug zurück und kehren um 21:00 Uhr zum Hotel zurück, um Ihre Tour abzuschließen.

Awesome experience! Couldn’t recommend enough. We were picked up from our hotel in Weligama and had the 4 hour safari option. We saw over 75 elephants and lots of other wildlife.

Kani drove us to the park and he was fabulous. Janaka was our safari driver and he was excellent. Janaka could spot wildlife, especially birds, which enhanced our experience. The elephants were fun to watch. They are much smaller than African elephants, so we got really close to them. Lots of fun! Be ready for a bumpy ride.

It was a unique and beautiful experience! The organization went smoothly and especially my driver (Kani) was incredibly nice and helpful! Would book a tour or ride with him again at any time! The safari itself was also great. Experience elephants and other animals in the wild is a great experience. Under Safari Guide was also super friendly and was able to show us lots of animals and impart knowledge about them. An all-round successful day!

Super organized safari tour. Already after booking we received via WhatsApp the time of pickup at the hotel with additional information about car and driver. Our driver Suranga was on time. At Udawalawe National Park the jeep was already waiting for us. We had a private tour alone in the jeep. Our driver Darmasiri from Max Safari Villa drove us through the park, alerted us to the partially hidden animals, stopped long enough so that we could watch and photograph the animals in peace. In particular, he also took care not to disturb the animals. At the end of the tour our taxi with driver Suranga was already waiting for us and brought us back to our accommodation in Weligama. We can absolutely recommend the tour!
