„Tortuguero“ gilt als eine der wichtigsten Brutplätze der grünen Schildkröte (Chelonia Mydas) der westlichen Karibik. Dies gilt auch für die Carey, die jedes Jahr zur Eiablage an die Sandstrände kommen. Der Tortuguero-Nationalpark in Costa Rica befindet sich im nördlichen Abschnitt der karibischen Küste. Es ist eine der interessantesten Gegenden, sehr exotisch und mit großer Artenvielfalt. Sie ist bekannt als „Tico Amazon“ (Costa Rica-Amazonias), da es in Tortuguero keine Straßen gibt. Die Haupt-Verkehrswege sind Dutzende Süßwasserkanäle im ganzen Park. Die Reise zu einem der wenigen Hotels in der Gegend erfordert eine Fahrt im Motorboot von etwa 70 km durch Flüsse und Kanäle. Ein spektakuläres Abenteuer, das Sie sich nicht entgehen lassen sollten. Im Park haben Wissenschaftler unterschiedliche verborgene Lebensräume entdeckt, in denen sich mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit zahlreiche Tiere beobachten lassen, darunter verschiedene Affenarten, Faultiere, Krokodile, Leguane, Papageien, Aras, Tukane und vieles mehr.

<p>Our guide German was great! On the ride, he was very animated and pointed out lots of waterfalls, plants, flowers, and the yellow river. He explained everything and let everyone know when a good picture opportunity was coming! He even would offer to take photos for you/of the family. He spotted a sloth and we pulled over and all got a chance to take pictures. We also stopped to see monkeys! Contrary to the description, we didn't visit a banana plantation as an organized activity but rather we stopped at one of Dole's banana fields and got to observe the process of cutting the bananas down and loading them on a conveyor belt. On the river cruise to Tortuguero village, we saw lots of animals including Cayman crocodiles, normal crocodiles, and lots of birds! German bought us all pipa fria or coconuts to drink out of upon arrival to the village. We had a short walk around the village to the beach and then we went to a hotel for a lunch buffet. Afterwards, we took the boat back and saw more animals. On the drive back, we stopped at a local family's house and had the opportunity to see another sloth in their yard and we could buy homemade tamales. A long day but we got to see a lot!</p>
<p>Awesome tour and knowledgeable tour guide. Walk thru small village and saw the beach where the turtles migrate. Last 10 miles of the tour was bumpy on the dirt road and other than that it was great.</p>
<p>Good fun. It is important to be aware that this is partly a hotel transfer for people spending longer in Tortuguero</p>
<p>The tour did not happen. I waited in my hotel lobby for two hours from 5am and no one turned up. Eventually the hotel staff managed to contact the travel company and they said the tour was not running on the day I was booked in for. I do not know why I was booked in to a non-existent tour.</p>
<p>Amazing tour! Got to see different plantations on our drive to the coast. Was great to see different wildlife on the boat ride to Tortuguero town. Knowledgeable guide and a great lunch!</p>

<p>Tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided lots of info about Costa Rica. He stopped the vehicle at several places on the way to show us animals and different trees and plants. Very very good. He entertained us by singing too while we were in the vehicle.</p>
