Das schimmernde blaue Wasser des Titicacasees beheimatet die berühmten, von Menschenhand geschaffenen schwimmenden Inseln von Uros. Diese Inseln und ihre Behausungen stammen aus einer vorinkaischen Zeit und bestehen vollständig aus Totora-Schilf, einer einheimischen Rohrkolbenpflanze, die im See wächst. Lernen Sie bei einer geführten Tour die Bewohner kennen, die eine kleine Gemeinschaft gebildet haben, und erfahren Sie, wie diese Inseln über Wasser bleiben. Am Nachmittag besuchen Sie die Insel Amantani und erleben die einzigartige Kultur der Einheimischen.

Wir holen Sie morgens zwischen 06.45 Uhr und 07.00 Uhr von Ihrem Hotel in der Altstadt von Puno ab. Vor dem Einsteigen in das Motorboot zur Insel Uros machen wir einen kurzen Halt am Bootsanleger, wo Sie Snacks und Mineralwasser kaufen können. Sobald Sie sich im Boot niedergelassen haben, begrüßt Sie ein lokaler Musiker mit einer Anden-Folkloremusik. Unser Guide stellt sich dann und den Kapitän des Bootes vor und gibt Ihnen einen kurzen Überblick über den Tagesablauf auf dem höchsten schiffbaren See der Welt, dem Titicacasee. Unser erster Stopp wird auf den berühmten schwimmenden Inseln von Uros sein. Während der Reise vom Festland zu einer der Uros-Inseln können Sie Totora-Pflanzen sehen, die auf dem Titicacasee wachsen. Diese stellen die Grundnahrungsmittelquelle dar und dienen gleichzeitig als Unterhaltssystem, das die Uros benötigen, um die Existenz der Inseln aufrechtzuerhalten Während das Boot anlegen würde, würden einheimische Frauen in lokaler Kleidung den Ort, den sie als ihr Zuhause bezeichnen, herzlich willkommen heißen. Der Inselchef demonstrierte dann, wie sie diese Inseln mit Totora-Pflanzen errichteten, und teilte einige Wörter in ihrer Muttersprache (Aymara) mit. Die Einheimischen hier sind für ihr Kunsthandwerk bekannt. Wenn Sie möchten, können Sie sich eines kaufen. Sie haben dann die Möglichkeit, auf dem traditionellen Totora-Schilfboot (10 Soles) zur Hauptinsel Uros zu segeln. Auf Wunsch erhalten Sie hier Ihren Reisepass als Souvenir abgestempelt. Von hier aus starten wir unsere Bootsfahrt zu den Taquile-Inseln. Sie können zum offenen Deck auf der oberen Ebene des Bootes gehen und einige Fotos der schwimmenden Inseln machen, durch die Sie fahren würden.
Das grüne Wasser des peruanischen Titicacasees durchbricht die kleine Hügelinsel Taquile, auf der die Dorfbewohner eine stetige Industrie für Strickhandwerk geschaffen haben, die von den Männern der Gemeinde gestrickt werden. Taquile ist die Heimat einer Quechua-Bevölkerung von 2.000 Menschen, die hauptsächlich Bauern, Fischer und vor allem renommierte Weber sind. Im Gegensatz zu der oft tragischerweise traditionellen Sichtweise, dass Stricken und Textilarbeit als Herrschaft der Frauen gelten, sind es jedoch die Männer von Taquile Island, die einen Großteil der filigranen Fadenarbeit erledigen. Das Handwerk ist in Weben und Stricken unterteilt; Frauen weben, Stricken ist Männersache. Wir werden zum Mittagessen in einem lokalen Restaurant anhalten. Nach dem Mittagessen gegen 14:30 Uhr besteigen Sie das Boot zurück nach Puno. Gegen 04:30 Uhr legt das Boot am Bootssteg von Puno an. Wir treffen Sie bei Ihrer Ankunft und bringen Sie zurück zu Ihrem Hotel im historischen Zentrum der Stadt.

We did this full day trip to Lake Titicaca and it was just perfect. From the guide service to transport, everything was smooth. The locals were welcoming and friendly. We even toured the local home on the floating islands. It was a perfect day trip.

While the tour was amazing I think there should be more transparency on what occurs on the tour. My travel companion was having a little difficulty with the altitude, so we were taking it easy. I booked this tour thinking it was a cruise, you go to the floating islands, have lunch and then go back. Nowhere in the description did it say to have lunch you have to hike 1km up a hill (it may be further). If this was in the description I would have cancelled but instead we were left with the choice of climbing a hill with my companion sucking on oxygen or sit on a boat for 2 hours waiting. As I said previously the floating islands were wonderful but I think the walk to the lunch should be mentioned for travellers to make an informed choice.

Pick up was on time , we had a great guide and boat driver. The guide gave us so much information about the history and how the islands were built , the wildlife etc and the lake . The island we visited was great and had a female chief - impressive. They showed us through using models and materials how the islands are constructed. The lunch was delicious and they catered for my vegan diet . Very good day .

This review isn’t aimed directly at the tour company but rather the experience on the islands. We arrived at Uros island and my partner and I found it to be rather uncomfortable. You are ushered into the local’s homes, they dress you in their clothes and then proceed to guilt trip you into buying their stuff. We also were told each island only has 1 visit every 3 weeks to further guilt trip you but upon research we found this was definitely false!! We found it to be extremely inauthentic and choreographed for your money. On top of that, we were directed onto their boat where they take you to another island. Yet once you are sat on the boat and the boat has left the island, they come around collecting money from you which isn’t optional! It is complete manipulation. The second island is much better but still very staged and it makes me sad that the people now completely rely on tourism to live. Definitely do not pay £42 either as you can get it for 30soles the day before at the port in Puno :)

A big thanks to our guide, Abel for making this trip a memorable one. The tour company was very well organized and easy to reach out to. Miluska, helped me plan the tour and provided all information to plan everything smoothly. The price included all admission fee and the group size was very small, around 12 people. Highly recommend for someone interested in knowing more about local traditions and customs and doing this on the way in or out of Puno to Bolivia.
