A few months ago, I went on a half-day tour to Uros Island at Lake Titicaca with some friends, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable experience. We booked the tour with Planet Odysseys, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. The company was super professional, but also friendly and laid-back, which made the whole trip feel personal and relaxed. The boat ride to the island was incredible. The views of the lake were stunning, and we got to learn a lot about the Uros people, their unique floating islands, and how they live. It was so cool to see how they build their homes using reeds and how they’ve been able to adapt to life on the water for centuries. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging, and we even got a chance to try out some local food and take part in traditional activities. It felt like a real cultural exchange rather than just a typical touristy thing. I highly recommend Planet Odysseys for anyone visiting the area. They made everything easy, and we felt like we got to experience something special that we wouldn’t have if we’d gone with a bigger, more generic tour company. Definitely worth it!
What an inspiring comment! We are very happy to know that you appreciated the professionalism, kindness and relaxed atmosphere that we offer at Planet Odysseys. We will pass on your compliments to our guide. Thank you for trusting us with this unique experience!
A pleasant and interesting place to visit, the attention and the first guides, certainly a favorite option to return in February.
¡Gracias por su comentario! Nos alegra que hayan encontrado nuestro destino "agradable e interesante". Cusco tiene mucho que ofrecer, y nos complace haber sido parte de su grata experiencia.
Although the reviews were pretty mixed for the tour, we chose to embark on a half day tour with them. It was quite surprising how perfectly everthing was organised. Yes, the island dwellers were somewhat pushy for us to buy things but we understood that this wasn beyond the control of the tour company as the other travellers we met who did tour with other companies also had similar experiences. However, on the brighter side, the island is photogenic and the guide was very nice and courteous. We learnt a lot about their history and the way these islands are built. It was quite a relaxing half day trip.
Dear Flavia, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a comprehensive review of your recent half-day tour with us. We're delighted to hear that you found the organisation of the trip to be up to the mark, and that our guide could contribute positively to your experience. We agree, the island's photogenic charm and rich history make for a fascinating exploration. It's wonderful to know that you found the knowledge shared by our guide enlightening and that the overall experience was a relaxing one. Your understanding of the pushiness of the island dwellers is much appreciated. We do our best to facilitate respectful interactions, but, as you've noticed, it's a universal challenge across all tours, and beyond our direct control. We'll continue to work with local communities to improve these aspects where possible. Once again, thank you for choosing us and sharing your experience. We hope that we have the pleasure of welcoming you back on one of our tours in the future. Best Regards, Ericka Mendoza. Guest Relations
Nothing memorable really. The tour operator came late. They asked us to pay extra to drop off at the hotel, then extra for another smaller boat, then to buy local artifacts.
Dear Ms.Varma Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We value all feedback as it allows us to provide better clarity about our services to all customers. Regarding the hotel transfer, our complimentary service is available for hotels located within the center of Puno. In your case, the accommodation was on the remote islands of Uros, which is not within our standard transfer zone. This information is shared during the booking process to ensure that all our customers are well informed about the services we provide. Concerning the timing at the bus terminal, our team was present based on the bus details you provided at the time of booking. Any discrepancies between the actual bus details and the provided ones can cause such confusion, and we'd recommend double-checking such information in the future for a smoother experience. As for the smaller totora reed boat ride and buying local artifacts, these experiences are additional options we provide to enhance your journey and immerse you deeper into the local culture. However, they are not included in the standard tour price, as clearly stated in the booking information. We appreciate your understanding on these matters and look forward to serving you better on your next journey with Planet Odysseys. Best regards, Sreeram Hariharan. I won't recommend it if you dislike a large group tour. The group is around 20-30 people. The itinerary is simply travelling to the island, listening to some simple introduction to the island's history and life, and shopping for souvenirs.
It was interesting to see the islands, but wish there was more to the tour than to see one island and a boat ride. Lake Titicaca is enormous, maybe a longer tour would be more beneficial to see more the Lake offers. But over all, not bad.
Very nice guides. A lot of interesting information, but a little bit too touristic. The good-by singing was a bit over the top.
The guide did not speak very well English , the visit was quickly done well. Very average experience.
We booked the tour via web and received a good deal, answered our questions quickly, we were always in contact with the Enterprise. LAKE TITICACA HALF DAY, the guide and the agency staff were super friendly and attentive to us, the half day trip is an amazing experience, you see beautiful landscapes, you meet people from the area and then you can go to try traditional PUNO food.
We booked this trip quite late the night before for the 12pm tour so we had to exchange emails with the tour operator to figure out if they would be able to pick us up from the hotel. It all got sorted in the end, though, and the trip was enjoyable. The boat ride to the island is quite short and very pretty, and it was interesting to hear about the islands and how they are made and maintained. As always with these activities, there is an element of being shown various souvenirs to buy but there was no pressure to actually purchase anything. Everyone in our group opted for the optional reed boat trip, which was S./ 10 per person. The ride on the boat itself was nice but not that different from any other boat. Being able to visit the 'commercial centre' of the islands was good, though, as we had the time to have lunch and some drinks from the local restaurant. Overall a good experience and recommended for a short daytime activity in Puno.
