Our day trip to Quebec City was one of the highlights of our Montreal vacation! If you’re visiting Montreal, this tour is an absolute must. You can comfortably explore the beauty and history of Quebec City in a single day without feeling rushed. Our guide, Katia, was absolutely amazing. She is incredibly knowledgeable about Quebec’s history and culture and has a wonderful way of making every story interesting and engaging. She truly brought the city to life. A big thank you as well to our driver, who was so friendly, kind, and welcoming throughout the entire trip. Together, they made the experience smooth, enjoyable, and memorable. Another huge plus was the convenience, the departure point was only about a 6 minute walk from our hotel, the Marriott Château Champlain in downtown Montreal, making the morning incredibly easy. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Montreal. It’s the perfect way to experience the charm of Quebec City in just one day!
There was a lot of free time in Quebec City which was nice, but only 30 mins at the falls. I wish there was more time to explore there. Wish we learned a bit more history. That is where Canada was "discovered" and we learned more about modern day Quebec and why it's better than the rest of Canada than the history of it.
If you book through Viator, you will need to exchange your mobile ticket for a paper ticket in order to board the bus. This can be done at the meeting point. The bus was spacious, quiet and lovely to watch the view outdoors. Our tour guide, Katia and driver, Mo, were both awesome. Katia was extremely knowledgeable about Quebec’s history and made the tour personable. Quebec City, and the falls were stunning. This is definitely worth the money.
The day tour is a great chance to see and learn about the city. Quebec City is close to Montreal and is still a independent city
Before coming to Canada, we looked at various different tours to Quebec City and all of them seemed to have some flaw or another when looking at the reviews. However, we were keen to go as we’ve heard a lot of positive things about the area and wanted to make the most of our time in the Montréal area. After contacting the concierge at our hotel, it was suggested that we book this tour via the Gray line. Pickup was very straightforward with only a short walk from our hotel required. It is a very long day, but the journey was relatively smooth and there was a stop off halfway for refreshments and a washroom break. When we arrived in Quebec city we had a short 45 minute walking tour which was interesting and gave us some historical insight in and context into the lower part of the City. Subsequently we were back on the bus for a short 10 minute drive to Montmorency Falls which looked absolutely stunning. Sadly, you only have around 20 minutes there which is barely enough time to walk to the base of the falls. There is so much to do above the falls, including a wonderful bridge and other activities so we were disappointed by this. However, we then drove back to Quebec city and we’ve driven around for about 30 minutes whilst the guide gave us a commentary of some of the key areas of interest in the upper city. We then had around 2 1/2 hours to ourselves and it certainly a very pretty place to visit with lots of shops, restaurants bars etc. By 4:45 pm, we were back on the road to Montréal for what again was a relatively event free journey, being dropped back to the Gray line office close to our hotel. Having now been on the tour, I can appreciate more many of the comments that have been left by fellow travellers who have experienced this tour and others. You could easily have spent longer at the Falls and perhaps stayed longer in Quebec city to make up for this. An earlier review here noted that the driver and tour guide were begging for tips. I have to be honest and say it certainly felt that way to us as a family. The driver must have referenced gratuities (on his microphone whilst driving) at least six times, and in one instance, even gave all passengers instructions on how to get cash out of an ATM! I have never experienced this behaviour before on any tour in the US & Canada which frankly is off putting and just wrong. Perhaps the driver is not to blame, and actually the tour operator is not paying their staff enough. Either way, travellers should not have to experience this kind of behaviour. Tipping should never be demanded rather recognised independently by travellers.
Very nice and informative bus tour! Amazing Quebec. Beautiful buildings and tour. Guide was amazing!
Awesome trip. Great guide. Driver on time, very informational and knowledgeable. Only one comment, Stop area was not very clean and did not have a lot of options for snack and maybe driver having some bottled water on the bus.
A full day due to travel time of 3 hours each way. Spectacular falls and interesting history in Quebec. Free time in Quebec enjoyable. Driver was excellent.
Day trip to Quebec. Bus driver was safe and excellent driver but poor communicator. Tour needed to be longer. Not enough exploring time in Quebec City so felt rushed.
Good experience overall but I would prefer to stay over night as so much to do in the city and the tour is too short for all the activities
