Galle ist eine der bevölkerungsreichsten Städte Sri Lankas. Dieses Strandparadies im Südwesten der Insel ist aufgrund seiner historischen Bedeutung eines der bekanntesten im ganzen Land. Bis zur Ankunft der Portugiesen im 16. Jahrhundert diente sie als Haupthafen der Insel. In der südlichen Region Sri Lankas liegt der Distrikt Galle. Balapitiya ist eine kleine Stadt im Distrikt und wäre ganz unbedeutend; außer der Lage eines Flusses. Der Fluss Madu ist sehr reich an Artenvielfalt. Der Leuchtturm von Galle befindet sich im Inneren des Wahrzeichens von Galle Fort. Es ist sieben Meter über der Straße auf den Stadtmauern gebaut. Dies ist Sri Lankas älteste Lichtstation aus dem Jahr 1848, aber der ursprüngliche Leuchtturm wurde 1934 durch einen Brand zerstört. Er wurde auf der heutigen Höhe von 26 m wieder aufgebaut. Die Lichtstation befindet sich innerhalb der Mauern der alten Festung von Galle, einem UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe und einer bekannten Touristenattraktion, was diesen Leuchtturm zum meistbesuchten der Länder macht. Das National Maritime Museum of Galle ist randvoll mit nautischen und marinen Wundern, die aus dem Meer ausgegraben und hier ausgestellt werden. Galle war schon immer ein wichtiger Hafen, der seit mehreren Jahrtausenden von Schiffen und Händlern aus der ganzen Welt besucht wurde. Als solches entging es den Fängen der niederländischen Händler nicht, die den Profit über alles andere stellten.
Der Uhrturm von Galle ist ein vierstöckiges Steinmonument aus dem späten 19. Jahrhundert. Es wurde innerhalb der Wälle des Fort Galle an der Stelle des vorherigen Wachraums errichtet und überblickt eine der drei Bastionen des Forts. Während der alte Uhrenturm ein großartiges Denkmal zum Fotografieren ist, erfordert er aufgrund des extremen Winkels in der Nähe einige geschickte Manöver. Daher ist es möglicherweise besser, es von der Moon Bastion aus zu fotografieren, der der Turm zugewandt ist (kombiniert mit Galle Fort). Am Ende der Tour kehren Sie mit vielen schönen Erinnerungen zur Unterkunft zurück
Ursprünglich im Jahr 1640 erbaut, stammt das heutige Gebäude aus dem Jahr 1752. Sein Boden ist mit Grabsteinen von holländischen Friedhöfen gepflastert, während andere beeindruckende Merkmale die Orgel und eine imposante Kanzel aus Calamanderholz mit einem großen sechseckigen Baldachin umfassen (kombiniert mit der Festung Galle )
Der Cricketplatz von Galle, einst eine Rennbahn für Wettkämpfe britischer Kolonialherren, wurde vor über 100 Jahren gegründet. Seit 1998 wird es für internationale Spiele genutzt; 2010 war es Schauplatz des legendären letzten Auftritts von Sri Lankas großem Bowler Muttiah Muralitharan. Es gibt eine großartige Perspektive auf den Boden von der Sun Bastion im Süden.
- Das in Galle gelegene Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct ist, wie der Name schon sagt, ein Einkaufszentrum in einem wunderschön restaurierten Kolonialgebäude, das ursprünglich während der holländischen Besetzung erbaut wurde. Es hat eine ständig wachsende Auswahl an Orten zum Essen, Trinken oder Einkaufen. Es gibt einen fabelhaften Blick auf die Bucht von seinem oberen Balkon. (kombiniert mit Fort Galle)

So much too see, so many stops. Turtla Rescue center, beach views, mangrove forest boat tour. Obligitory sales stops at Cinnamon Island and Gem Stone mine. Galle Fort with the famous jumpers (Nest thing on the tour) and thrn the stilt fishermen. I eluld reverse the order though as the stilt fishermen is late in the day.

This was a great trip with a brilliant driver and our guide Naveen for whom nothing was too much trouble - we had a full tour of the Dutch fort which was intriguing after a brilliant cruise on the river seeing lots of wildlife and having a foot bath with the fishes - the turtle hatchery was really informative and great fun

1) extremely rough driving 2) not spors were not clean like bentota beach. there were other beaches which were cleaner 3) quality of vehicle not great for charges

We had a great tour with Krish, who was a great guide and fun to talk to during the long rides. We saw the sea turtles, toured the river, and had about an hour in Galle. Made it back to Colombo around 7 after starting around 8:45.

I had an amazing experience - it was a private tour and I need to thank to the company for very fast and accurate communication. The driver took me to all the places included in the program - we spent almost 12 hours on the road visiting different places and it was amazing. I do recommend to have a water safari at Madu river. Kosgoda sea turtles conservation project is the other thing you should know.

One needs to carefully read the itinerary. it is full of additional optional offers that are not cheap. it adds up and the total trip cost is not too high. driving in a busy towns does not add to the experience. in fact driving in general is crazy FOR the PASSANGER. the only highlight for me was the Modu Safari. The Galle fort has no uniqueness other than its history. I would pick the stops in the itinerary that i want to go. Tell the driver to get there through the highway. the operator & driver executed flawlessly but the trip content does not worth it for me.
