The driver communicated well beforehand and was friendly, but his van left a lot to be desired. It was very hot and we were stuck in the very back with no shock absorption due to the heavy luggage. We checked off this bucket list item, but I dont think the 4 hours in a hot uncomfortable van was worth it.
Bus pickup was easy, about a 50 yard walk after exiting the cruise terminal. Comfy recline seats and air. Patrick was a great tour guide, explaining the terrain and history as we passed through the new forest on our way to Stonehenge. It was crowded since we arrived on a Sunday, nothing to do with the tour itself. After the visit we were able to sleep as we travelled the highway to be dropped off at the airport or transferred into minivans for the drop off in London since the bus would not be able to navigate the streets. Great experience overall.
Pros: -safe ride to and from the port to your hotel and Stonehenge -Kind, fun and professional driver Cons: -They don’t go to all hotels (it doesn’t say that). If you don’t first find out where they go, they will give you a hard time. I had to beg for help and unfortunately had to use the line “I paid a lot of money for this and require your help” to even get anywhere with them. Traveling solo with a kid is tough enough. -The guy that was supposed to put us in a car, put us on a bus with others before realizing that we weren’t a group of four with a similar last name. Then kindly (but embarrassingly), took us off the bus to find the correct car we were supposed to be in. I kept showing him my pass that was in my Apple Wallet and confirming my last name and he kept calling me something else. It was weird, but it all worked out thankfully. Not knowing what to do or where to go was hard and they never made it simple to know who to ask or figure it out for ourselves. We had to rely on people who didn’t know where to go. But once we got to the right place (which took awhile) the trip itself was excellent thanks in part to the driver who was awesome.
We booked this tour to get us from our cruise in Southampton up to our Airbnb in London with a great chance to see Stonehenge along the way! It was very easy to get to - a kind lady (I forget her name) was holding a sign immediately after we left the cruise terminal, then after checking in, we were able to get on the bus. Unfortunately, we had to wait a bit as another family somehow did not see the lady (I guess?) and walked far away from the port, so we waited to find them and then go pick them up. I think this ended up giving us a little less time in Stonehenge, but we couldn't do anything about that. Our guide was Rob, and he was very informative with great stories as we drove to Stonehenge! It was a beautiful drive, passing by lavender fields and other countryside! We also drove through Salisbury for a quick view of the cathedral and other interests. Once at Stonehenge, we were able to use the restrooms, then Rob gave us our ticket wristbands and we followed him to get on the shuttle up to the stones. We were able to stay near him to hear more of his information around the stones, but if you didn't, you knew when to meet back up. After his stories ended, we got to do the full walk around of the stones and then take a shuttle back. Unfortunately it was pretty busy at Stonehenge, so since we needed to grab a quick lunch at the cafe because we wouldn't get to our accommodations until later, we didn't have time to look through the museum and other exhibits. Even without visiting them, we still had a great visit and then enjoyed the bus ride up to London! It stopped first at Heathrow for those on flights, then to each of our individual hotels - because our Airbnb was just outside of Zone 1, we were dropped at a nearby hotel and then walked 10 minutes to our apartment. I would absolutely book this tour again!
Our tour guide, Marek, went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our visits to Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge.
If all you need is a ride from Southhampton Cruise Terminal to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) with a stop at Stonehenge then this excursion may be right for you. Our driver was competent but this transportation does not include a guide or tour narration. Meeting the driver at the Cruise Terminal can be a bit tricky so be certain to have your phone charged and turned on. We expected to find the driver waiting for us at the exit to the cruise terminal but instead eventually located him out with the van at one of the pickup islands. A voucher to enter Stonehenge is included. The driver delivered us to LHR in plenty of time to catch our 5:00 pm flight.
Coming off a cruise ship, this excursion was extremely difficult to find. No signs, no direction in the midst of all the cruise confusion. Luckily We found others on the same excursion, and we found a helpful tour guide from another group that helped us in gathering. I guess our tour guide was caught in traffic, so how were we ever to know, had we not been told by another tour guide. We were supposed to find the tour company name in the chaos but the Viator app does not tell you what this name is in the meeting details. Are we suppose to meet inside the building parking curb, or outside? No info. In fact, Viator branding is no where to be found, so we felt lost and stranded. The tour itself was fine, once our driver arrived. We quickly realized that our tour guide was simply a driver. He literally said like 10 words the entire 5 hour tour. He simply packed our bags into the van and drove us to Stonehenge and then to our drop offs. Stonehenge was awesome, and the tickets were provided as part of the tour. Traditionally I was expecting “some” commentary to come from our tour guide, but again, nothing other than the bare minimum. We were all delivered to our respective locations, so in that regard the tour was successful. Thankfully we had 6 of us in total on the tour and we got along great. We had a good time. Overall, this excursion was a Stonehenge Uber.
Trip from cruise port to Stonehenge to London was very convenient . Driver picked us up on time in southampton. Made a stop in Salisbury along the way
The tour was one of the best excursions we have recently taken. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Another bucket list accomplished. We were happy that the tour also included hotel drop-off. Great value for the price.
Overall a good way to disembark with luggage and squeeze in a tour. Two weeks prior, we received a email with slight itinerary changes. Finding the meeting coach at the cruise terminal was difficult because the International Friends guide was at one of the numerous coaches not outside the cruise terminal as expected. After walking past each coach we found ours. Salvador was informative and helpful throughout despite heavy rain! We had a 10 minute stop at Salisbury Cathedral which was far too short after an hours long drive for a restroom break. Time was not sufficient to see anything at the cathedral. At Stonehenge the shuttle cue to the stones is not covered, forcing guests to stand in the rain. At 11:00, the cue was 15-20 minutes long. Stonehenge is independently toured but the free downloaded audio guide is excellent and recommended. Our tour ended at Windsor Castle car park to be transferred to our hotel via an independent driver “Samir?” who was extremely informative giving helpful advice and pointing out areas of interest.
