Akitha is honestly one of the most beautiful souls I have met in this world. His knowledge and deep rooted connection to the Sinharaja Rainforest and all the tiny heartbeats which call it home, is truly unbeatable. If you are looking for an authentic and memorable visit to this magical place I urge you To contact Akitha. He speaks fluent English and he will open your eyes to life in the forest you would otherwise never know was watching. He is also a brilliant photographer, he helped us capture beautiful shots of hidden insects to look back on. I sincerely hope I get to see Sinharaja through Akitha eyes again soon. Our group trekked for just four hours, if I were to do it again i would stay in Akitha’s glorious cabin in the trees and walk the pre dawn slot as the forest wakes up the next morning. Four hours is 💯 not enough. 🌳 🌱💚

Unfortunately we did not get to take this tour as our pre-organised driver failed to turn up to our hotel to transfer us to Sinharaja from Kandy. Therefore, we never met Akitha face to face. However, through my regular communications with him, I can only say how sad I am never to have met him in the flesh. He tried desperately to arrange alternative transport at short notice for us and could not have been more understanding of our predicament. All pre-trip communication was excellent, confirming details, sending photos and even Christmas wishes. Based on my dealings with Akitha I would encourage anyone considering booking his guiding tour to do so as I am sure you will not be disappointed. If his guiding is half as good as the man he seems to be, then you will not be disappointed. I know that should I ever return to Sri Lanka, booking Akitha for this tour will be the first thing I do.

This experience was a 10/10. We couldn´t have been luckier with Akitha and his colleague. In terms of the package itself, it looked like this - they waited for us, gave us an amazing sri lankan lunch in his house (right by the entrance of sinharaja) and equipped us with ponchos and leech socks. Then, we started the hike. They brought salt and put it in our shoes to protect us from leeches. They were always taking care of us. We came in the rainy season, right after it rained so there were a buch of leeches. Still barely any got to us. We bumped into lots of other groups and they were not by far as equipped as us. The wildlife spotting was amazing. The guides were very friendly and ethical, they put a bigger focus toward protecting the wildlife than towards cattering it to tourist. We loved that. After the hike (3-4h), they gave us some Rotti, fruit and tea. Akitha was very kind and human. We will for sure come back and even try to stay at the very lovely Cabannas that he is constructing. They had a very priviledged view.

We had a great time exploring the rain forest after a delicious lunch! Saw many interesting creatures and beautiful views!

We had a wonderful rainforest tour (4 hours) with Akitha as our Tour guide. The nature was absolut stunning. And Akitha has a great knowledge of plants and animals of the rainforest. Also his English is very good, which made communication easy. He also provided leech protection, because we were afraid, it might have a lot of them. The day we were there, it probably would have not be necessary, but we were still glad to have them. Thank you very much Akitha for an unforgettable day.

I was hiking in the Sinharaja rainforest, and Akitha was my guide. I can honestly say the experience was incredible. The rainforest, with all its biodiversity, was absolutely breathtaking. A refreshing swim at the waterfall made it even more unforgettable. What truly made the whole experience special was Akitha’s help, his calm, knowledgeable way of explaining things and his ability to spot even the smallest animals hidden in the forest. Highly recommend!
