Our snorkeling tour with Héðinn was a great experience! As a local owner & operator in a sea of large commercial groups he truly cares about his customers. He was attentive to our group & even helped people in groups that weren’t snorkeling with us. Our group was smaller with 4 people rather than the large 10-20 going with some of the companies there. He is the only diving group that offers dry gloves to keep you warm the hour or so your in the water! He went above and beyond with the dry gloves but he also offers free photos with a nice camera! After we were out of the water we warmed up in the van with some hot chocolate and cookies. Again we would like to thank him for a great experience!!

We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and snorkelling experience in Silfra. Hedinn, our local guide was so kind and knowledgeable. He made sure we avoided the long wait times, and got our own private time snorkelling. He gave us so much space to enjoy being in this beautiful place while also making sure we were always safe and comfortable. I was initially a little nervous getting in, but the dry suit and dry gloves made this experience so pleasant and stress free. I was honestly surprised by how dry we were after getting the suits off. I would highly recommend booking your tours with Hedinn (diving island). You won’t have any regrets!!!

Amazing! I can't say enough wonderful things about Héðinn and Diving Island, our experience was exceptional from start to finish. My husband and I were traveling with our toddler and reached out to Héðinn about snorkeling at Silfra. All communication was prompt, enthusiastic, and professional. He provided us with a few options for our family and we chose to do a private tour with him. He briefed my husband and I together and we took turns snorkeling with him while the other waited with our daughter. Héðinn was friendly and kind and even allowed us to use the Diving Island van as a warm, comfortable space to wait with our daughter. Everything went seamlessly and felt thoughtfully designed around our family's needs. As for Silfra itself, it was stunning. Floating between two continents in crystal clear water was incredible. We love all the photos Héðinn took to remember the experience! I can't recommend highly enough!

He provides professionalism, expertise, fun, state-of-the-art gear, and GLOVES (the other companies do NOT provide gloves--gloves are a MUST, they make the VERY COLD snorkel so much more enjoyable)! Don't look any further if you are planning to do the Silfra Snorkel. Diving Island is a small local company and you get to be guided by its owner Héðinn. He will suit you up in dry suits and gloves that look like something from NASA. I don't believe other tour operators use the dry gloves which help your hands from getting cold too quickly. He takes pictures for you throughout the dive and sends you an email with them after your snorkel. He is very personable and from the interactions I witnessed, looked up to by other snorkeling guides. You will not regret going with this amazing local guide instead of one of the big tour operators.

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had, we loved it. From the friendly welcome to the help putting in the dry suits, to the knowledgeable team. The warm under suit and the dry suits was first class, very thankful we booked with this company as they are the only ones who have dry gloves, the rest have wet gloves so it cannot be as good an experience. Boris was incredibley experienced, made me feel at ease with the idea of going into three degrees water. There was just the two of us so made it a very personal, especially as the other companies had large groups of people. The snorkeling was out of this world, cannot express how great and believe it or not relaxing it was.

If you’re visiting Iceland and considering snorkeling in Silfra, stop scrolling and book Hedinn at Diving Island. This was hands down one of the most incredible experiences of my life, and so much of that came down to our guide. Hedinn is the real deal. He’s been running Diving Island for 7 years, and that expertise shows in everything, from how he briefs you before the dive to how calm and confident he makes you feel once you’re in the water. He’s knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what he does. We passed several larger tour groups on the water, and the difference was immediately obvious. With Hedinn, you feel like a priority, not a number. Silfra itself is otherworldly, crystal clear glacial water, unreal visibility, but the right guide makes or breaks the experience. Hedinn made it unforgettable. Do yourself a favor, skip the big operators and go with someone who truly cares. Book Diving Island. You won’t regret it.

This is a MUST BOOK experience!! Hedinn was an incredible guide -- from the start making sure he got your measurements right for a proper fitting dry suit (you are completely covered head to toe) to on site helping every person get properly fitted and suited up to taking beautiful photos before, during and after your time snorkeling. It's the little details Hedinn adds like having an additional heater in his van for when you change into the provided fleece undersuit, to warm gloves that went under the dry suit to keep your hands extra warm to hot chocolate and biscuits after the snorkel. This experience was hands down one of the most unique things I've ever done & a once in a lifetime experience! I wouldn't think twice about rebooking this if I came back to Iceland. It's so good you'll want to do it twice! Hedinn gave us a great history about the fissure, fully prepped us with all the proper wardrobe and took amazing photos he sent back to us same day after the tour. Highly recommend!

We had an awesome time at Silfra with our guide Hedinn and Diving Island. My wife joined the snorkeling tour while I choosed to scuba dive. Hedinn guided both our tours and was at any time very friendly and supportive. We can definitely recommed booking with Diving Island.
