Reiseverlauf

I thought it was a one-on-one ride, but the driver responded. Partly because of that, it was good that they narrowed it down to just the places we wanted to go and we were able to leave early. However, it may feel uncomfortable for some people because they often take out their national character or speed in the city and go out to the opposite lane. lol I enjoyed it as one of the attractions. In fact, I witnessed the accident in front of my eyes twice, so it may be normal in Sri Lanka.
I had such a wonderful day on this tour to Sigiriya. My driver Newan was absolutely great. He arrived on time, early 5am start, had water for me and Eben stopped for me to have breakfast at a great coffee shop on our journey. He was extremely engaging on our full day together, he played great music to listen to on our long drive. Newan arranged a guide for me up the daunting climb, a must to get the best out of this experience. Definitely recommend this service and Newan!!
I asked for it here because it was cheap, lean and word of mouth was good. I tried to climb Pidungala Rock but gave up because I was too tired. Mr. Newan was kind, too.
Experience is great. Travel agent are very accommodating. Our driver Mr. Newan is nice and friendly. We really enjoy the whole trip😊 definitely we will comeback again to Sri Lanka
It is very Wörth for vist. Cannot wait to vist the another time. The Tour is perfect And unforgottable momeries I will visit again
It takes a little effort to climb the Tiger Rock, but it is definitely worth it. The view down into the valley is beautiful. Also the cave temples with the Buddhist statues in Dambulla are very worth seeing.
Communication before the tour was good. I appreciated the ticket prices and optional extras being clearly laid out, and I also liked the choice of start times, which a lot of similar tours don't offer. I don't like an early start so I chose a more civilised 8am pickup, which meant I got back to Colombo around 10pm. The driver turned up on time and seemed to know the roads well, so we made good progress. He was likeable and let me connect my phone to the car to play my own music. He was attentive to what I wanted to do and suggested swapping Sigiriya to the afternoon because it was raining in the morning, which worked really well. Unfortunately his English wasn't very good so he was definitely more of a driver than a guide. He accompanied me into the Dambulla Caves but he wasn't able to explain much and couldn't answer my questions. I chose to do the Sigiriya Village Tour as an optional extra. The lunch portion of this was excellent, with a local woman making a meal using traditional techniques and inviting you to help with some parts - of course you then get to eat the delicious food afterwards. However, I didn't find the rest of the village tour to be worthwhile, as it just consisted of being carted around in a tuk-tuk, boat and horse-drawn wagon. The "guides" didn't speak English and didn't provide any explanation other than the boat drivers occasionally pointing at cormorants and parrots. At $30 it felt very overpriced, especially since they expected tips for this "service". There were additional stops for a tea tasting and spice garden, however, as is so often the case with these tours, they were just a sales pitch for their products. The wood carving was closed when we got there but I suspect it would have been the same. I don't mind being given the option to buy things but I would have preferred if it was made clearer in advance what these stops were so I can choose to skip them if I'm not interested. It's already a very long day without wasting more time. Despite some dubious parts of the day, I was still able to enjoy as much time as I wanted at Sigiriya Fortress, which was a huge highlight, and the Dambulla Caves were definitely worth visiting too, so in all it was a good tour that I would recommend.
I highly recommend this tour, especially my tour guide Shan, who accompanied and drove me the entire way. We set off around 5 a.m. and after about 4.5 hours, we reached our first destination, Sigiriya Rock. I knew I had to climb up there, but when I stood in front of it, I thought, "Oh my gosh, that's really big." So I climbed the 200 meters up and back down in about 2.5 hours. It was very crowded, so progress was very slow, but it was still worth it for me. It was a truly amazing experience, and my driver, Shan, was waiting for me at the bottom the whole time. After the exertion, we continued on to an ox-drawn carriage ride, which was a lot of fun. Afterwards, we took a raft across a small lake, where I was given a necklace and a headdress made of beautiful flowers. Equipped with this, we then went to a small village where I enjoyed traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and was able to participate in the process myself. Here, I was able to grate coconut and do other tasks myself, and I was also able to watch the food being prepared. Afterwards, we ate the food, which was truly delicious. Here, people eat with their hands, which is very unusual for us Europeans, but a very interesting experience. When we were finished, we were picked up by a tuk-tuk that took us to a safari vehicle, which then took us to Minneriya National Park. There were really very few animals in the national park; I was just extremely unlucky here. I have to say, though, that the driver really made an effort to find them. Unfortunately, apart from a single elephant and a few birds, we didn't see anything else. It was still a great experience. After the safari, we went to Dambulla to the cave temple. Here, we had to climb stairs again, but no matter what, once you get to the top, you see some truly amazing things. I really liked the design of the caves; the feeling reminded me a bit of the royal tombs in Luxor, Egypt. It's truly astonishing how artfully people designed these caves many years ago. I was also very impressed by the golden statue. Since it was a long walk from the entrance to the end, I called my driver Shan to ask if he could pick me up at the exit, which he did. He was a really friendly, honest, and helpful person. At the end, it was about 4.5 hours back to the hotel. It was a very long drive, but Shan drove very well. It's a very long trip, but I don't regret it. I highly recommend it to everyone; you really get to see a lot here, and the tour operator is very reliable. Any questions can be answered via WhatsApp at any time. Many thanks to Vishwa for organizing the trip and Shan for making it happen and making it a great day.
It was really great idea to take this one day trip. The agency contacted me a few days before just to confirm me my trip. Later they send me my itinerary and is was easy to make changes. The day before I was contacted by the driver and he confirmed the pick up time. He picked me up on time. The whole day driving was okay and we did all the itinerary plans. We came back to the pick up place. Very kind, friendly and great English speaking guy named Sampath took a good care. Thanks to his recommendation after the trip I went to the live band concert in Colombo in the evening. So my whole experience was great and I really like it. The trip can by also managed by yourself but I had to make it all in one day and this trip made it very easy to do all that. I highly recommend this.
Wooow amazing trip and very safety driving and very friendly he is. very supportive for the Sigiri and safari trip . Recommend guys for the safe journey. Thank you 👌
