Kompong Kleang ist eines der schwimmenden Dörfer am Tonle Sap See. Der Tonle-Sap-See ist der größte Süßwassersee in Südostasien. In der Trockenzeit umfasst der See 2700 km2. In der Regenzeit ist die Größe des Sees nur dreimal so groß wie in der Trockenzeit. Es sind mehr als 200 Fischgewürze enthalten. Während der Regenzeit hat es eine sehr räumliche Verbindung zum Mekong-Fluss und dient als Stausee zur Wiederherstellung des Wassers aus dem Mekong-Fluss. Rund um den See liegen fünf Provinzen: Siem Reap, Battambong, Pusat, Kompong Chhnang und Kompong Thom. Alle diese 5 Provinzen haben ein sehr gutes Potenzial für den Reisanbau, da die Hauptwasserversorgung aus dem See erfolgt. In der Regenzeit können Sie mit dem Boot in die Hauptstadt Phnom Penh reisen.

Fantastic morning spent visiting the Kompong Kleang floating village on the Tonle Sap Lake. Excellent service provided by Ra and his friend our driver. Ra is a fantastic tour guide. His English is very good and fluent. Touring with him is a history lesson in itself. He has vast knowledge of not only the Temples, but Siem Reap and surrounding areas. The beauty of touring with him is the hidden gems, where locals hang out, he will take you to. The van is large, clean and I always feel safe! The Floating Hut Restaurant is so relaxing after a visit to Kulen Mountain so, make sure to stop! Speaking of stopping, when or if you see something of interest, he will pull over so you can shop, taste local street food and find new off the beaten track delights.
