Unser erster Halt ist vor dem Hotel New York. Wir werden über seine Geschichte und aktuelle Nutzung erzählen. Auch von dort haben wir einen tollen Blick auf den sogenannten Tornado, das neue Fenix Museum of Migration.
Wir radeln über die Erasmusbrug in Richtung Seeviertel, wo wir am Rotterdamer Kriegerdenkmal des Zweiten Weltkriegs Halt machen. Wir werden über die Brücke sprechen und eine kurze Geschichte Rotterdams in Bezug auf den Zweiten Weltkrieg geben.
Wir halten im Schifffahrtsviertel am Brunnen, der einst in der Innenstadt stand. Dieser charakteristische Teil Rotterdams gibt Ihnen einen Einblick, wie Rotterdam vor dem Krieg ausgesehen hat.
Das so genannte „Museumsviertel“ ist ein Ort in Rotterdam, an dem einige der bekanntesten Museen Rotterdams ihren Sitz haben, verbunden durch den Museumspark. Wir machen einen Halt in der Nähe des New Institute und schauen uns das brandneue Art Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen an, eine der neuesten Ikonen, die Rotterdam hinzugefügt wurde und das erste öffentlich zugängliche Kunstdepot der Welt! Schon aufgeregt?
In einer der ältesten Shopping Straßen Rotterdams, dem De Oude Binnenweg, gibt es die Möglichkeit für eine 15-20-minütige Pause. Die Dauer der Pause hängt von der Größe und den Bedürfnissen der Gruppe ab und kann vor Ort angepasst werden. Während der Pause können wir entweder zusammen an einer Kaffeebar übernachten oder Sie können sich entscheiden, herumzuwandern und auf eigene Faust zu erkunden. Dieser Moment ist ideal, um Kontakte zu knüpfen, Empfehlungen zu erhalten, sich aufzuwärmen, sich abzukühlen oder einfach nur die Toilette zu nutzen. Bitte beachten Sie, dass Getränke nicht inbegriffen sind.
Unser letzter Halt, bevor wir die Fahrräder zurückbringen, ist vor dem historischen Rathaus von Rotterdam.
Wir halten in der Nähe am Platz vor der Sankt-Lorenz-Kirche.
Die gelben Cube Houses könnten einer der bekanntesten Sightseeing-Orte der Stadt sein. Wir werden vor uns stehen, über die Geschichte sprechen und Fotos machen.
Die Markthalle (2014) machte Rotterdam besonders berühmt und ist ein moderner Indoor-Markt mit viel Essen und Farben! Wir nennen sie auch unsere moderne Sixtinische Kapelle und Sie werden herausfinden, warum!
Wir radeln weiter in Richtung Kings Harbour Bridge, wo wir Halt machen und in seine Geschichte eintauchen!

My mum & I as part of our 5 day trip to The Hague wanted to experience a guided tour bike ride in Rotterdam. Elmer was available and he offered us a private tour at no extra fee. Elmer was very thorough to check the bikes tyres were inflated & we were happy with the seat heights. We agreed not to go too fast as we were cycling near main roads. Elmer explained the route we would take & what we would see. We stopped at several points so he could give us the history at that given site. Elmer is fluent in english, and he always gave clear hand signals as to which way we were going. A great 2 hours experience and Elmer is not only an excellent tour guide, but a thoroughly nice person and we would recommend him to anyone of all ages!
This bicycle tour is a great way to see the heart of Rotterdam, and Elmo is a fantastic guide full of knowledge and love for his city. The trip includes many stops to stretch your legs so you are not sitting on the bike for long periods. The bike lanes in Rotterdam are well marked and smooth, with every intersection having signals just for bikes alone. Note that we used pedal bikes (not e-bikes), but we are in our mid-60’s and had no problems. I highly recommend Elmo and this tour for a great experience!

Elmer is passionate about the city he grew up in. Rotterdam has seen dramatic change over its history. He has selected wonderful locations and topics. He tells Rotterdam's history in a personal way, not leaving out many of the ugly truths behind why things are the way they are. But above all, his optimism for the living experiment that is his growing, dynamic city shines through in his tour. This isn't a college kid who memorized some facts (although that kind of tour can be fun, too!). It's a good guy who found a way to share his knowledge and love of his home for a living. The bike tour was an excellent experience. Elmer is a friendly and flexible guide. He shares things about the city that you won’t find in written guides.
