Bitte treffen Sie mindestens 30 Minuten vor Ihrer geplanten Abfahrtszeit am Nelson Mandela Gateway zur Robben Island im Silo District an der V&A Waterfront ein. Bringen Sie unbedingt Ihren Originalpass oder eine digitale Kopie mit. Nach dem Einsteigen in die gemeinsame Fähre genießen Sie eine malerische 30-minütige Fahrt über offenes Wasser zum Robben Island Museum. Nach der Ankunft am Anlegesteg der Insel steigen Sie aus und nehmen an einer geführten Tour an Bord eines gemeinsamen Busses teil. Die Tour wird von einem ehemaligen politischen Gefangenen geleitet, der Live-Kommentare über die reiche und ergreifende Geschichte der Insel gibt und auf die Wohnsitze ehemaliger Insassen und andere bedeutende Sehenswürdigkeiten hinweist. Das Erlebnis gipfelt in einem Besuch in der Gefängniszelle, in der der ehemalige Präsident Nelson Mandela festgehalten wurde, sowie der Möglichkeit, auf dem legendären Long Walk to Freedom in seine Fußstapfen zu treten. Am Ende der Tour kehren Sie zum Steg für Ihre Rückreise zurück.

Not a lot to see although interesting to see where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. The groups (bus load size) are too large to see or hear the guide properly. Buying tickets online through a tour operator costs more than double than paying directly at the ticket office.
Thank you Wish2c for accommodating us on the morning tour to Robben Island. Communication with the office was very easy. We were also very lucky to get the bus on the island with an actual former inmate. Most of the bus hosts/hostesses are just young people. We really learned a lot from our bus guide as well as the guide who took us through the actual prison area (he was one of the youngest inmates on the island at the time, locked up at 14 years old!). A visit to Cape Town wouldn’t be complete without seeing this infamous part of South Africa’s history and redemption. Pre-booking with Wish2c saved us time and made it easy.
