I had 2 amazing tours with this company while being over in Iceland - can only write one review unfortunately. You not only get the standard information but the guide also told a lot of stories about Iceland and from the sagas, gave you insight infos about the many Streetart pieces you can explore in Reykjavik - if you are interested in. You get a friends feeling and don’t feel as a tourist. Although I have been multiple times over and already been on a tour with Stefán before, there is always something new to learn. Takk fyrir!
Stefán was an AMAZING guide. He shared such great stories. He brought humor along with the history, mythology, legends, pop culture, and art. Highly recommend this tour. It’s an easy walk, paced very well, and has lots of breaks to learn about the area. I’d do this at the beginning of your trip because Stefán will give you recommendations for worthwhile things to do if you want to learn more.
Thank you Shannon, you guys were absolutely the best!! I had a blast with you!
As the professor leading a study abroad group, I expected to be the primary point of contact. Instead, I was consistently ignored. I had to ask multiple times, almost every single day, for the next day's schedule. Even after repeated requests, Stefan often would not respond. When plans changed, he rarely informed me in advance. I would find out at the last minute, despite being responsible for the students and the overall program. His attitude throughout the trip was dismissive and disrespectful. I repeatedly explained why I needed approximate times at each stop so I could manage meals, restroom breaks, student expectations, and the group's schedule. He ignored those requests throughout the trip. The planning was equally disappointing. The Hvammsvík Baths were cancelled the day before because he claimed he could not find transportation. Only after constant pressure from me and my travel agent did he arrange another lagoon, and then expected us to pay the difference. He also overlooked the fact that transportation we had already paid for had been cancelled because of his lack of planning. A business visit was cancelled at the last minute. When I contacted the company directly, they informed me the visit had never been confirmed. It was never booked. The same happened with the Friðheimar tomato farm. I had been discussing this itinerary with Stefan for more than 10 months and repeatedly asked him to reserve it. He later claimed it required advance booking, yet he never made the reservation. When I contacted the farm, they told me group reservations are free and easy to arrange. Once again, it had simply never been booked. This pattern repeated itself throughout the trip. Experiences were cancelled at the last minute because they had not been properly organized. Communication was poor. Planning was poor. Accountability was nonexistent. Stefan is knowledgeable about Iceland, and I appreciate the information he shared. Unfortunately, knowledge alone is not enough for a guide leading a study abroad program. Reliability, communication, professionalism, and respect for the faculty member leading the group are equally important. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend him and would never choose to work with him again.
Hello Prachi, and thank you for this review. Allow me to respond. I came into your project 2 months prior to your trip, wich had been planned by another company and was a complete mess. I was hired to entertain and take you sightseeing, not to be your full time guide or arrange visits to startup companies or anything related to your study group. That being said i went above and beyond for your group, and as i understand it, everyone in your group was extremely happy with my work. You on the other hand were extremely difficult to work with, you were rude, humiliated me infront of other people and im flabregasted by your behavior. This "review" has nothing to do with the tour that you are "reviewing" or any other activity but more of a personal outburst towards me personally. I have never, and will never again do a study abroad project since that is not my speciality nor what i was hired to do. I hope in the future your study groups will have more success, but the services i provided as your TOUR guide were, as you say yourself, good, and you are welcome. I hope that you have the desency in the future to speak directly about your experience instead of leaving a bad review for something that is completely irrelivant.
