Quito, and the surrounding environs have a lot to offer. We decided to spend our last day visiting places that typical "tours" do not go to. We started with the Basilica del Voto Nacional and then to the Botanical Garden. We then went to the Intiñan Equator Museum; our "tour" had taken us to the Mitad del Mundo and we checked our compasses and realized we were not on the equator; the French discovery was a few "seconds" off the actual equator. The actual equator is located inside the Intiñan Equator Museum. Our driver Francisco was excellent in getting us to all the places we wished to visit. He picked us promptly at our hotel in the Old City and was with us for the next 7 hours, explaining various parts of Quito as we drove by them (I.e. The Ecuadorian equivalent of our "West Point" and the "old" airport.) Francisco provided a very good perspective of life in Quito and its history. We had our luggage with us and Francisco stayed with the car to make sure nothing happened. He took us to the airport and we ended our 28 day trip with some very good memories.
Cisco was freaking amazing!!!! He totally individualized our day so we could hit everything we wanted to do! He was funny, informed, and just an awesome dude! Could not recommend more!
