Der höchste Gipfel der Republik Armenien ist der Berg Aragats (4090 m). Dieser Vierbergriese ist der beliebteste Berg der Kletterer. Auf dem Weg zum Südgipfel ist die beste Station am Kari-See (übersetzt Steinsee), der auf 3250 m Höhe liegt. Oben öffnet sich die attraktivste Szene : die Silhouette der grünen Täler von der einen Seite, die ewigen Schnee- und Silberseen von der anderen Seite und der biblische Berg Ararat weit im Nebel des Ararat-Tals.
Das Armenische Alphabet-Denkmal befindet sich im Dorf Artashavan, an der Ostseite des Berges Aragats. Es wurde 2005 zum 1600-jährigen Jubiläum der Schaffung des armenischen Alphabets nach dem Entwurf des berühmten armenischen Architekten Jim Torosyan errichtet. Das Denkmal ist eine interessante Demonstration der Steinschnitzereien von 39 armenischen Buchstaben. Das armenische Alphabet wird seit dem Jahr 405 oder 406 zur Schreibung der armenischen Sprache verwendet und wird immer noch verwendet, um die armenische Sprache in schriftlicher Form darzustellen. Sie wurde von dem heiligen Mesrop Mashtots, einem armenischen Sprachwissenschaftler und kirchlichen Anführer, entwickelt, um Armeniern die Bibel zugänglich zu machen und das Christentum zu verbreiten. Ursprünglich umfasste sie 36 Buchstaben und war im Mittelalter fertiggestellt worden.
Die architektonischen Hauptmerkmale des mittelalterlichen Festungsbaus haben in dieser Festung ihren Niederschlag gefunden. Amberd wurde auf einem natürlich gut verteidigten Kap erbaut und diente lange Zeit als wichtiges militärisches Fort. Neben diesem weltlichen Gebäude befindet sich eine Kirche, die 1026 vom Herzog Vahram Pahlavuni erbaut wurde.

This was an amazing tour. Mike and Karen were great to hangout and very very knowledgeable of Armenian culture from it's inception to present day. We learned about tons of fascinating topics from literature, to religion and within context and in a very fluid and well crafted manner. Highly recommend taking the lunch option at Chir's house. Armenians will never let you starve don't worry about it. The food was all freshly cooked with vegetables from the garden at Chir's house where they also make their own honey and dried fruit. This was our first tour in Armenia and first time and this was perfect for us. Great if you don't want to walk much but see beautiful places. Nothing too hard to reach or with challenging hikes even though most of the tour is in mountains so I'd say this is a level for seniors as well. Highly recommend Karlen and Mike, I want to book them again for the next day but they were taken. Keep up the good work Karlen and Mike :D

The Alphabet park and fortress were nice. What made the day was the guide, Alisa. She was very informative and engaging on topics beyonf the ones we saw. The lake was a total waste of time. Take a sweater. It was chilly up there. I think it was very overpriced for what we got.
