Private Tour der Band of Brothers in Holland ab Amsterdam

Treten Sie in die Fußstapfen von Dick Winters und seiner Bande von Brüdern während der Operation Market-Garden und auf der Insel. Sie besuchen alle Orte in Holland, die mit der Band of Brothers-Saga zu tun haben. Es ist eine geschäftige Tour, also „Hang Tough“. Und wir machen eine Mittagspause in einem interessanten Museum. 10-11 Stunden Tourdauer sind inklusive Fahrzeit. Der Schlachtfeld-Tour-Charakter dieser Reise bedeutet viele kürzere und längere Fahrten zu und zwischen den Orten.

Nach einer 1,5-stündigen Fahrt von Amsterdam erreichen wir Dropzone C. Dies war der Landeplatz von Easy Company. Ihnen gefiel die sanfte Landung auf den Feldern und wir können verstehen, warum. Der Bauernhof Paulushoef diente als Sammelpunkt und die Einheimischen waren damit beschäftigt, verletzten und durstigen Luftlandetruppen zu helfen. Der Hof ist nicht für Besucher geöffnet.
Von der Dropzone aus folgen wir dem Vormarsch der Easy Company bis zur Brücke bei Son. Es wurde von den Deutschen gesprengt. Eine Fußgängerbrücke wurde improvisiert und der Vormarsch nach Eindhoven fortgesetzt. Später versuchten die Deutschen, die Brücke mit einem Panzerangriff zurückzuerobern, der jedoch nach hartem Kampf abgewehrt werden konnte.
In Eindhoven sehen wir die Straße, in der die Menschen feierten, während die Kompanie Easy vorrückte, um die Dommel-Brücke zu erobern, und auf die Panzer der Garde-Panzerdivision wartete. Später wurde die Stadt von den Deutschen bombardiert.
Wir fahren nach Nuenen. Hier hatte die Easy Company einen harten Kampf mit der von Osten her angreifenden 107. Panzerbrigade. Nuenen ist auch als Vincent Van Gogh Village bekannt.
Wir machen eine Mittagspause und besuchen das Wings of Liberation Museum. Das Museum ist dem Market-Garden-Betrieb gewidmet. Sie können erläuternde Karten sowie Uniformen, Ausrüstung und Fahrzeuge sehen, die in stimmungsvollen Darstellungen eingesetzt werden. Es liegt in einem Waldgebiet auf einem Lagergelände aus der Zeit des Kalten Krieges. Montags ist das Museum geschlossen.
Die Deutschen unternahmen verzweifelte Versuche, den „Hells Highway“ von der Vormarsch- und Versorgungsroute des XXX. Korps abzuschneiden. Die Mühle bei Eerde und die Straße bei Koevering waren hart umkämpfte Orte.
Auf dieser Farm auf der Insel wurde das berühmte Dick Winters-Bild am Eingangstor gemacht. Wir machen hier einen Zwischenstopp, damit Sie dasselbe tun können. An der Straße gibt es ein Denkmal für Easy Company, das über den Inseleinsatz informiert. Der Hof ist nicht für Besucher geöffnet.
Unser letzter Halt ist an der Kreuzung, wo eine Abteilung der Easy Company auf zwei deutsche SS-Kompanien stieß und sie in die Flucht schlug. Sie werden sehen, wie offen das Gelände ist und die einzige Abdeckung durch Deiche und Entwässerungsgräben besteht. Ein kleines Denkmal erinnert an die Aktion. Von hier aus sind es etwa 1,5 Stunden zurück nach Amsterdam.

This experience meant far more to us than we expected. Standing in the very places where the soldiers of Operation Market Garden fought and fell gave us a sense of connection that was deeply personal for my family of 4. This experience wasn’t just about learning history—it was experiencing the places of history that books and movies cannot express. Hearing the stories while walking the same ground made the war feel closer, more human, and profoundly real. We found ourselves imagining their decisions, their sacrifices, and the impossible moments they faced. It gave us a new level of respect for the men who fought though out the Netherlands and left a lasting impression that we will take with us for the rest of our lives. Jip did an outstanding job of bringing all of these stories to life. He presented pictures, accounts, and his own unique blend of experience that accentuated this trip. This is by far one of the best experiences myself and my family have had in our travels, and we are greatly appreciative of Jip for helping us create family memories that will last a lifetime. We all 50, 40ish, 20 and 12 year olds, recommend this adventure. (5 stars is not enough)

Jip was outstanding in his knowledge of Easy Co 506th, Band of Brothers and Operation Market Garden. He took us to all the key sites, from the Easy Co. drop zone through The Crossroads, which included a visit to a very cool museum. Was a bucket list tour for me and it exceeded my expectations! Had a running conversation with Jip all day about Easy Co and Operation Market Garden, regarding tactics, personnel, and US Army/British Senior Leaders. Jip took us on an incredible day trip from Amsterdam to Bastogne and Foy! My husband is a passionate about World War II, particularly the journey Easy Company had through Europe. When he saw that we could do this tour, it was a must!
