Private Sansibar-Gewürzfarm-Tour

We(our group of 4)were escorted from our hotel in the Medina of StoneTown to our guide’s(Hamadi) car…he had a driver. The tour took us outside of town about 30-40 minutes. The end point,Jambo Farm, is essentially a neighborhood cooperative. Other tours were scattered throughout the farm. The tour consisted of walking around the property with our guide and one of the coop’s guides. The latter guided us around and supplemented Hamadi’s info. I loved seeing all the spices and fruits AND seeing how they are grown(VANILLA). It was fascinating to me as I do a lot of cooking with a variety of spices. Additionally, I had only seen many of the fruits in markets and had no clue as to how they are grown(ie:star fruit). As other reviews have mentioned, tips and purchases are expected but not mandatory. There is fresh coconut milk and coconut meat, a gentleman singing and climbing a coconut tree, selling of local coop goods( note that we saw the exact same soap for sale in StoneTown), an opportunity to buy spices and a gentleman cutting and serving fresh fruit. I would say it is a must tour when in Zanzibar, but be aware of the whole package. Hamadi’s English was pretty good-if we did not understand something he said, he would patiently rephrase or try again.

It was a lovely day at the spice farm. We saw many spices of zanzibar. The guide khalfan was a such a good guide with alot of knowledge. If you are in zanzibar don't hesitate to book the spice tour from Alfa tours.

It is not a farm but a garden. Nevertheless the information is interesting and allows to understand the main spices of zanzibar

My friend and I showed up at the tour on the wrong day. We were TWO days early. We didn’t realize this of course. We contacted Alfa to say we were at the meeting location and checking in. He showed up in less than 3 minutes. When I showed him our tickets, he let out a relieved breath and showed me that the tour was from 2 days from then. I was incredibly apologetic but he was incredibly kind and gracious. He STILL gave us a tour right then. He was very informative and interesting. He also helped us when vendors were approaching. He very honestly let us know if we had a better location to purchase whatever bobble we were looking at later on the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour with Alfa. We would do this tour many times again. *** also, if you book with Alfa, you can reach out to him and schedule an airport transfer for a fee as well. We didn’t know this and scheduled (and paid ahead) for a taxi from our hotel. Alfa offered a better price before even knowing what the taxi had us pay.***

Alfa was an amazing guide. Always smiling and he tailored the tour to the interests of our family of 5. He is extremely informative and knowledgeable, with well-spoken English. Great value for money and would highly recommend as a guide whilst staying on Zanzibar. We enjoyed his company and following the Stone Town Historical Walking Tour, we then booked the Spice Farm Tour with him the following day. Both tours are brilliant. Thanks again Alfa!

Spice Tour was hassle-free and great fun. The instructions for meeting our guide were clear, and we were picked up from our hotel with no problems. I would recommend Alfa and would definitely book with him again!

Abdul was loads of fun and full of information. ‘Guess that spice’ was very entertaining and the morning flew by. We learned so much tasting and smelling our way through the jungle. Highly recommended!!!

The spice tour was perfect. Alfa tours Zanzibar made it happens by taking us in a spice farm where we got a deep knowledge of the spices since the Arab times in Zanzibar. We come from the country where we have the spices but we know nothing about it. Thank you Alfa for the lesson.
