Die Große Moschee wurde auf einem Gelände von 416.000 m2 gebaut und der Komplex erstreckt sich auf einer Fläche von 40.000 m2, die Große Moschee wurde vom Sultan von Oman am 4. Mai 2001 eingeweiht, fünf Minarette wurden um das Gelände der Moschee errichtet, das Hauptminarett (90 Meter, 300 ft.) in der Höhe. Der Gebetssaal hat eine quadratische Form und 74,4 mal 74,4 Meter (244 mal 244 Fuß) hat eine zentrale Kuppel, die sich auf eine Höhe von 50 Metern über dem Boden erhebt, die Kuppel ist von innen spektakulär verziert und es ist eine wichtige Touristenattraktion an sich, der Hauptmusalla (Gebetsraum) kann über 6500 Gläubige aufnehmen, das Hauptdesign des Innenraums ist der Gebetsteppich, der den Boden des Gebetssaals bedeckt, er enthält, 1.700.000.000 Knoten, wiegt 21 Tonnen und dauerte vier Jahre, um zu produzieren, und vereint die klassischen persischen Täbris-, Kaschan- und Isfahan-Designtraditionen 28 Farben in verschiedenen Schattierungen wurden verwendet.

Vom Fischmarkt, nur eine kurze Fahrt zum Mutrah Souq (Markt) besuchen Mutrah Souq, Omans größtem traditionellen Souq, Mutrah Souq ist einer der ältesten Marktplätze in Oman, der zweihundert Jahre zurückreicht, es liegt neben dem Hafen von Maskat und hat einen immensen Handel im Zeitalter der Segel gesehen, da es strategisch auf dem Weg nach Indien und China liegt, wurde es nach Dunkelheit benannt wegen der überfüllten Stände und Gassen, wo die Sonnenstrahlen tagsüber nicht eindringen und die Käufer Lampen benötigen, um ihre Ziele zu kennen, der Name des Marktes wurde speziell von dem Teil abgeleitet, der sich von Al Lawatiya Moschee bis Khour Bimba erstreckt, wo der Ort wirklich voller Geschäfte und Stände ist und der enge Bereich der Gassen lässt das Sonnenlicht nicht eintreten, dieser alte Marktplatz heute verfügt über verwinkelte Gassen von Ständen, die Antiquitäten, traditionelle Stoffe, aromatische Gewürze Weihrauch, Parfüm, Silber, Omani süß (Halwa) und frische Produkte verkaufen.
Von Mutrah souq aus besuchen wir das Bait Al Zubair Museum, um eine feine Präsentation der omanischen Kultur und Geschichte und Informationen über die königliche Familie zu erhalten.

Von dort aus besuchen wir das Royal Opera House, er ist majestätisch Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said Sultan von Oman war immer ein Fan von klassischer Musik und Kunst, im Jahr 2001 ordnete der Sultan den Bau eines Opernhauses an, und es wurde offiziell am 12. Oktober 2011 eröffnet, das Royal Opera House spiegelt einzigartige zeitgenössische omanische Architektur wider und hat eine Kapazität für maximal 1.100 Personen, der Royal Opera House Komplex besteht aus einem Konzerttheater, Auditorium, formal angelegten Gärten, Kulturmarkt mit Einzelhandel, Luxusrestaurants und einem Kunstzentrum für musikalische, theatralische und Opernproduktionen.

We had a half-day private visit with Haroun who proved to be a good guide and a kind person. With us there were our children of 4 and not even a year and the latter was not very cooperative for the duration of the tour but Haroun was never impatient and indeed was really cooperative even helping us in the management. Jaafar was an excellent and knowledgeable guide! We went to the Grand Mosque and observed the wonderful architecture of the buildings.
