Nizwa Ziegenmarkt ist ein lebendiger traditioneller Viehmarkt, der jeden Freitagmorgen in der historischen Stadt Nizwa in der Region Al Dakhiliyah im Oman stattfindet. Diese lebendige wöchentliche Veranstaltung ist technisch eine Erweiterung des berühmten Nizwa Souq, aber sie dient einem einzigartigen Zweck: Einheimische Dorfbewohner versammeln sich hier, um Vieh zu kaufen, zu verkaufen und zu tauschen, hauptsächlich Ziegen, Schafe und Kühe und gelegentlich sogar ein oder zwei Esel. Nizwa, einst die Hauptstadt des Oman, bleibt ein kulturelles Herz der Nation, reich an Kulturerbe und Tradition. Nur eine kurze Autofahrt entfernt liegt der majestätische Jebel Akhdar („Grüner Berg“), Teil der Al Hajar-Bergkette, mit atemberaubendem Bergblick, terrassenförmigen Bauernhöfen und kühler Hochlandluft eine perfekte Ergänzung zur lebhaften Marktszene von Nizwa.

Wir brechen am frühen Morgen um 5:30 Uhr auf, fahren in Richtung Nizwa und besuchen zuerst den Freitags-Viehmarkt. Am Freitag erwacht die alte omanische Hauptstadt Nizwa für den wöchentlichen Viehmarkt zum Leben, auf dem Bauern und Händler aus Salalah mit ihren Tieren anreisen, um auf einem der schönsten traditionellen Märkte im Nahen Osten zu tauschen und zu handeln. Sehen Sie sich einen Markt im Nahen Osten an, der so funktioniert wie seit Jahrhunderten, mit Schafen, Ziegen und Rindern, die alle zusammen mit lokalem Honig und Datteln gehandelt werden.
Als nächstes kommt der große Nizwa Souq, ein lokaler Marktplatz, der eine Vielzahl von Waren anbietet, darunter Schmuck, Töpferwaren, Fisch und Fleisch.
Als nächstes besuchen wir die berühmte Nizwa-Festung. Das Fort ist ein Museum, das die Geschichte des Forts und der Umgebung zeigt. Bei einem Spaziergang durch die Festung haben Sie einen atemberaubenden Blick auf die antike Stadt und die nahe gelegenen Berge. Dann besuchen Sie das Bewässerungssystem von Al Kattmyn, eines der 5 Bewässerungssystemerbe der UNESCO.
Von dort geht es hinauf zum Jebel Akhdar. Jebel Akhdar, auch bekannt als der Grüne Berg, beherbergt viele Obstplantagen und Rosengärten. Nehmen Sie sich die Zeit, durch die Hügel zu wandern und die Aussicht auf das Tal zu genießen. Jebel Akhdar hat viel zu bieten.
Dann kommt als nächstes Dianna's Viewpoint, der Rand der Klippe hier, mit seinem berühmten Panoramablick auf die bewirtschafteten Terrassen darunter, hat eine königliche Verbindung. Diana, Prinzessin von Wales, genoss diesen Ort bei einem königlichen Besuch im Oman mit dem zukünftigen britischen König im Jahr 1986. A different experience. The goat and cattle market was well worth the early start and we always enjoy fresh food markets. Nizwa Fort and Castle is an interesting place that feels quite authentic. We added a visit to a rose oil farm that was well worth the extra cost. We did not see any other farms at Jabal al Akhdar as the tour was designed to finish at lunch time. Does not include breakfast or lunch.

An absolute MUST DO in your Oman Itinerary! Nasr our endearing and knowledgeable guide took us to the goat market early on, which was an amazing experience. He also took the time to take us to the perfect scenic locations for photos, took very good care of us throughout the trip and showed us the new and historic parts of Nizwa. He then took us through the scenic drive into the mountains where we had a wonderful time and were really awe-inspired by the location's natural beauty. His local knowledge helped us to be treated to Omani Dates, Halwa, Coffee and the world-famous Omani hospitality. It was a very special highlight of our trip.

Overall excellent tour. Our guide Muneer was excellent, friendly, flexible and knowledgeable. From Muscat the ride was long but the vehicle was comfortable and had good air conditioning. The fort and market were great and the views from the mountains were stunning. We had an excellent lunch on the mountains before returning ontime to our ship in Muscat. Highly recommend.

We went to nizwa friday early morning to witness the traditional cattle market selling live goats and it was a wonderful experienced. Said is kind and one of our good guide we had ever had. He gave us insight about his country. Absolutely we highly Recommended this trip.

We went on a friday tour to witness the friday cattle market, witnessing the traditional selling of goats. Then after went to Jebel Akhdar known as the green mountain of Oman. We had a wonderful time, thanks to our excellent guide hamood. Highly recommended to everyone.
