Reiseverlauf
Der Triumphbogen. Dieser Bogen wurde als Eingang zur Weltausstellung von 1888 erbaut und bietet viele großartige Fotomotive.
Nach dem Bogen radeln wir durch den immergrünen Parc de la Ciutadella. Hier sehen wir einen fantastischen Springbrunnen und die Königin des Parks – das Mammut von Ciutadella.
Dieses mittelalterliche Viertel ist ein Muss. Wir sehen mittelalterliche Ruinen, die unter einem alten Markt entdeckt wurden, die Basilika Santa Maria del Mar aus dem 14. Jahrhundert und die alte Straße Passeig del Born.
Nach einer Radtour und Passieren von Port Olympic schlendern wir auf unseren Rädern am Strand vorbei. Dieses ganze Gebiet wurde für die Olympischen Spiele 1992 wunderschön umgestaltet, in unserer Tour werden wir sehen, wie diese Veränderung bis heute ein großer Erfolg war.
Vom Strand geht es weiter durch einen Teil des Strandviertels Barceloneta, von dort aus radeln wir durch den alten Hafen.
Ein weiteres Denkmal, das 1992 für die Olimpica gebaut wurde. Dieses Kunstwerk wurde von Roy Lichenstein geschaffen und ist ein Muss für einige Fotos.
Dieses römisch-gotische Viertel hat viele Sehenswürdigkeiten zu bieten. Wir passieren die Basilica La Merce, die majestätische Plaza Real und die Plaza Jaume. Die Nachbarschaft selbst ist ein Relikt und ihre schattigen Straßen eignen sich hervorragend für Radtouren.
Bevor wir das gotische Viertel verlassen, kommen wir an der Kathedrale vorbei. Diese alte Kathedrale mit ihrer neugotischen Fassade ist ein Muss in Barcelona.
Nachdem wir über die Plaza Catalunya gefahren sind, fahren wir durch den Passeig de Gracia, oder wie er als die Goldene Meile bekannt ist. Diese berühmte Straße ist nicht nur für ihre Einkaufsmöglichkeiten bekannt, sondern auch für ihre berühmten modernistischen Häuser. Hier sehen wir die Gaudi-Häuser Casa Batllo und Casa Pedrera sowie einige Juwelen anderer Architekten aus derselben Architekturperiode, für die Barcelona so berühmt ist.
Als nächstes fahren wir weiter zum berühmtesten Teil von Barcelona, Gaudis Sagrada Familia. Diese erstaunliche Kreation wurde 1882 begonnen und der Bau dauert noch an. Mit ihren wunderschönen Fassaden und erstaunlichen Skulpturen werden wir uns jede Seite dieser Basilika ansehen.

A wonderful experience, it was so fun for our son who wouldn’t normally like walking through museums! His was engaged and loved the riding around. Our guide was great and we loved going around!

Paul was an excellent guide. So friendly and knowledgeable. We chose to go on standard bikes at a comfortable speed and we saw a lot of areas in the city including the beautiful waterfront. We loved the gorgeous park that was a setting for the World's Fair. We went through the 1992 Olympic Village. We really enjoyed Paul and would easily recommend biking through the beautiful city of Barcelona where the crowds are thinner. It was a perfect morning choosing to do this biking your!

On arrival bike was ready and waiting. After some introductions and safety advice off we went. The tour was at a good pace and good information was given at the “stops” Guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Certainly saw parts of the city that I would not have on foot. Enjoyed!!

Paul's bike tour was the perfect first activity when we arrived in Barcelona. He asked us what we wanted from the tour and took us on a city overview ride to so many of the sights. From Sagrada Familia to the oldest sections of the walls, Paul included both history and day to day life in Barcelona. As we rode he also pointed out other places we should explore. Barcelona is a very bike-friendly city with bike lanes everywhere complete with separate bike signals. Paul made us feel very comfortable riding in a new city and carefully obeyed all the bike traffic rules. His bikes were in excellent condition.

Really good way of seeing the city. Paul the guide was very affable and answered all my questions with in depth knowledge. I would recommend this tour on your first day as it is a great way to find your bearings and all the major landmarks of the city. Much easier than walking in the heat of the day.

Paul was personable and interesting!! He loves the city and we learned things we wouldn’t have just walking around. The biking was easy, just the biking lanes and lights were confusing but you get the hang of it. He supplied water and an apple for a mid morning snack. He was charming and friendly!!!
