Die Friedenskirche in Potsdam ist eine ruhige Kirche aus dem 19. Jahrhundert im Park Sanssouci. Im Auftrag des preußischen Königs Friedrich Wilhelm IV. wurde sie von frühchristlichen und Italienischen Basiliken inspiriert und erhielt ein schlichtes, aber elegantes Aussehen. Umgeben von ruhigen Gärten und Kreuzgängen spiegelt die Kirche die Vision des Königs von Harmonie, Spiritualität und stiller Reflexion innerhalb des königlichen Parks wider.
Das Neue Palais in Potsdam ist das größte und opulenteste Schloss im Park Sanssouci. Erbaut von Friedrich dem Großen nach dem Siebenjährigen Krieg, sollte es ein großes Zeichen preußischer Stärke und Reichtum sein. Mit seiner üppigen Barockarchitektur, kunstvollen Innenräumen und über 200 Räumen diente der Palast als Ort für königliche Zeremonien, Staatsbesuche und üppige Feiern.
Der Paradiesgarten in Potsdam ist ein wunderschön angelegter Abschnitt des Sanssouci-Parks, der als friedlicher Rückzugsort innerhalb der königlichen Gärten gestaltet ist. We got a super cool personalized tour, and our guide Glen was fantastic! We also got to learn how to navigate the German transit system. Glen learned what we were interested in, as our entire Europe trip had been WWII-focused, and really gave us details and insight around Potsdam, and the events and people that led up to both World Wars. Potsdam had a significant part to play, which I definitely did not know. There is also some beautiful and unique architecture around Potsdam, which I loved taking pictures of. Mikhail was AMAZING! It was unexpectedly cold and we got rained on as well, but he still made it an extremely fun experience. I went with a group of my girlfriends all of us are college age, and there were some older couples there too, and everyone was able to enjoy themselves equally. He knows his way around and if anything ever seems closed, he will find his way in for you.

Nikolai was a fantastic guide. We didn’t know what to expect nor the history of Potsdam and he taught us so much! We navigated through bus and train system with his assistance and found a cute cafe for a snack mid day. He was patient with our need to go slow and still managed to hit most (I think?) of his planned itinerary. It was more walking than we expected but nothing too much. Would love to go back to the palace / bummed we didn’t have time to see more!
