Oxford: nach Cotswolds (Halbtag)

Really enjoyed this half day experience...which could have easily been a week with so much to see. Leanne was dynamite. Offering us extra facts about each location, while keeping the group on schedule and engaged. She went above and beyond to accommodate all requests. Excellent driver too. Well done to the team. Thank you.

I showed up at the appointed place before the appointed time and kept waiting. Finally I re-entered the office to ask and was told the group was meeting right then at a picnic table a little ways away. The guide was already talking. She never looked around or, apparently, checked her list to determine that one person was missing from her little circle. I still don't know how she gathered the group, unless I took the directions on where to meet too literally. If I hadn't inquired, they might have left without me. As for the tour itself, the guide did a masterful job of getting us out and back on time despite a detour; however there was only an average of 30-40 minutes in each village, not even enough time to eat lunch and see anything. We were just let out of the bus, told to look around, and be back at a certain time. Little to no information about what to see in particular. Little information about the villages. For a 5-hour tour, more depth and less driving (with almost no commentary) would be preferable. Every place was uncomfortably crowded because every tour goes to the same villages.

Martin was a fantastic guide, he had huge historical knowledge of the area and was very helpful.

Now that I've reached the stage of life when retirement finally lets me reap some of the rewards of a long career, I have been making up for lost time with my family by traveling the globe. This year, I returned to the launching pad where I was born—London—to explore parts of Britain that held little appeal to my younger, more adventurous self. The Cotswolds was one of them. My family chose Footprints Tours Oxford. You might reasonably think a five-hour tour could become a bit tedious. After all, how much beautiful countryside can one absorb, and how many sheep can one count before falling asleep? We were fortunate to have Leanne as both our driver and guide. It was a picture-perfect day, made even more memorable by her knowledge and preparation. She was meticulous in explaining the history and character of every venue we visited. Many featured centuries-old churches, and Leanne seemed to have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of their history—not only the important facts but also the quirky, offbeat details that bring a place to life. At every village, she recommended restaurants, cafés, and pubs serving local fare. She even noted dietary requirements, including gluten-free choices. Clearly, she had done her homework and, in the process, won over a very enthusiastic new group of groupies, my family. She was punctual to a fault, exceptionally well organized, and possessed that rare quality in a guide: an ebullient, infectious personality that never felt forced. With Leanne, the tour became an experience. She is in a class of her own. First class.

Dougall was a great guide and provided interesting facts along the way. The coach was very comfortable and i like having a smaller group. Our guide drove us through a few smaller, less touristy towns off the beaten path which gave us a chance to see what typical villages were like. The time in each spot was enough to get a taste of the Cotswolds and pique interest for a future overnight trip!

Robert was an excellent guide for our one day tour of the Cotswolds. He is impressively knowledgeable and naturally articulate, bringing to life the history of the Cotswolds with intimate stories about significant individuals and historical events that were part of the story of the villages and hamlets we visited —all while holding a relaxed, comfortable and safe atmosphere for a diverse tour group of 12. The half-day trip was a good experience with Dougal who is a fantastic guide. Pleasant amount of info and good drive. Stopped in three villages and drove through beautiful landscape. So many examples of the typical Cotswolds building style.

The trip was fabulous and Dougal was fantastic, very knowledgeble,knows his information very well. The places were wonderful and he guide us through them with grat interest!! The only complain I would have is that the last stop is too shoert. the bus dropped us off to have lunch and had to be back in an hour, hardly time for lunch and certainly you had no time to see some of the twon or the shops!!! WONDERFUL TRIP WITH DOUGAL!!!!
