Natur, Tradition und bunter Markt – das alles können Sie auf diesem Ausflug erleben. Auf unserer Reise nach Otavalo besuchen wir die Stadt Cayambe, die für ihre „Bizcochos“ bekannt ist, eine Art gebackenes Brot, das vom sogenannten „Queso de Hoja“ und einer Milchspezialität begleitet wird. Dann besuchen wir das Quitsato-Sonnenuhrenmuseum und fahren weiter, bis wir den Otavalo-Markt erreichen, wo Sie Kunsthandwerk aller Art sehen können, das von erfahrenen einheimischen Handwerkern der Region hergestellt wird. Dann geht es weiter, bis wir Cotacachi erreichen, eine malerische Stadt, die für die Herstellung von Lederwaren bekannt ist. Hier wird Ihnen unser Reiseleiter Vorschläge machen und Ihnen die nötige Zeit für das Mittagessen geben. Später besuchen wir die Cuicocha-Lagune, die nach einer Vulkanexplosion vor Tausenden von Jahren entstand. Nach diesem Besuch kehren wir in die Stadt Quito zurück.

Unterwegs machen wir einen Halt, um ein traditionelles Sandwich zu probieren, bei dem es sich um Biskuitkuchen handelt, die in einem Lehmofen gebacken und mit Käse oder Dulce de Leche serviert werden.
Die Quitsato Solar Clock ist ein interessantes Museum, in dem wir mehr über die scheinbaren Bewegungen der Sonne, die Funktionsweise der Jahreszeiten, den landwirtschaftlichen Kalender und verschiedene geografische Aspekte sowie deren Beziehung zur Sonne erfahren können.
In dieser malerischen Stadt, die für ihre größte indigene Messe in Lateinamerika bekannt ist, zeigt die Otavalo-Gemeinde all ihre weltberühmten Handwerke und Stoffe.
Hier besuchen wir eine Werkstatt für Andeninstrumente, die die Ureinwohner gekonnt mit ihren Händen herstellen.
Hier werden wir zu Mittag essen und haben dann Zeit, die Lederwarengeschäfte zu besuchen, die diesen Ort berühmt machen.

A beautiful tour that allows you to see the towns and villages just over 2 hours from Quito. Many opportunities for interesting purchases and not to mention the beauty of the landscapes.
This was a wonderful tour. Juan shared so much about his country and took us to many wonderful locations. The artisanal workings of the weavers to the market to a lovely lunch recommendations were all spot on. The equator museum was fascinating and the afternoon biscuits were a wonderful treat. The driver Stephen was great as he navigated through some crazy drivers and narrow streets. My friend and I would highly recommend this tour.
We booked this tour because of the Otavalo markets but enjoyed the rest of the tour even more. Our guide Roberto gave great insight on the culture and history. The stops for food were excellent and the visit to Quitsato the Sundial Museum was fascinating as it explained the discovery and significance of the equator to the study of the globe at that time. We were comfortably driven by Carlos who stopped when requested so we could take pictures of the vista or street art. A great tour by all measures.
A pleasant day trip. Tasting the biscotti and hearing about the history was interesting. The market, was fine but being midweek was not that full and in the rain …..however we brought a few little things from the local people. We did not have that much time at the leather town as we had to head back to Quito.
We had a driver and a tour guide for our private tour. The guide was very informative and took us on several fun stops. We tasted authentic bizcochos fresh from the oven, the solar museum where we stood on the equator, a beautiful agave garden we walked through. The market inOtavalo was interesting and displayed authentic wares. All in all, very informative and just a fun day. Would definitely recommend this tour. .
The guide and the driver are really nice. They brought us to a traditional Ecuadorian restaurant. The food prices are really reasonable and tastes so good. The guinea pig and trout was excellent. The Otavalo market was fun and great shopping experience. We enjoyed the ride and the walk in the Laguna Cuicocha. Thanks for taking care of us!
