Dieser weitläufige Marktplatz, auf dem sich einer der ältesten Souks des Landes befindet, ist hauptsächlich Obst und Gemüse, Fleisch und Fisch gewidmet. Alle befinden sich in separaten Blöcken hinter der großen, mit Zinnen verzierten Stadtmauer mit Blick auf das Wadi. Ein Teil des Souq (am nächsten zur Festung) ist dem Kunsthandwerk gewidmet und richtet sich speziell an den vorbeiziehenden Tourismus.
Nizwa Fort - das meistbesuchte Denkmal von Oman. Die Festung wurde vor fast 370 Jahren erbaut und basiert auf dem darunter liegenden Wasserstrom. Sicher ist es eine der besten Burgen dieser Zeit, die es zu sehen gilt. Dann machen wir einen Besuch im Nizwa Souq. Auf dem Markt können Sie traditionelle Messer, Töpfe und andere Unikate kaufen.
Der höchste Berg Omans, Jebel Shams (3009 m), ist nicht für seinen Gipfel, sondern für den Blick in das spektakulär tiefe Wadi Ghul bekannt. Das geradlinige Wadi Ghul ist vor Ort als der Grand Canyon von Arabien bekannt, da es abrupt zwischen den flachen Canyon-Rändern Risse bildet und vertikale Klippen von 1000 m und mehr freigibt.

Nizwa was good with souq and fort being the main highlights. Jabal Shams was okay if you have already been to high view points. Guide was very helpful and overall trip was comfortable.

Great experience & Ahmed is a wonderful tour guide! He's very friendly, told us all about Oman and answered any and all questions we had. Was a pleasure to spend time with him, and also we had a great group of travelers. The fort is amazing, and so is the souk. The best souk I've ever been to! A long day in the car. Castle and markets were interesting. View from the canyon is quite spectacular and the drive up to it is also an experience. Good full day out.

Had a fantastic day with Asaad and a couple from France. Another Italian was supposed to come along but he had gone with another group. Left a bit later than planned so we changed the program and went first to Jebel Shams and then to Nizwa. In retrospect, I think much more fun! Asaad spoke good English and told along the way much, very nice! Enjoyed the views at Jebel Shams. Then lunch and to Nizwa Fort & Castle and finally to the souk. Asaad let us taste many local dishes and there was always coffee & dates. Super enjoyed this day 😃
We had the pleasure of visiting Nizwa fort and souk along with Jebel Shams with tour guide Abdullah A. He was warm, knowledgeable and a lot of fun to be with. He informed us about local customs and history which made our experience more meaningful. Nizwa fort was a place to explore Omani culture. The view from Jebel Shams was breath taking. Lunch was a sumptuous shared meal which allowed us to taste various dishes, in keeping with the local tradition. Overall, would highly recommend this tour.
A long day… but worth it. Nizwa is a cool experience. A bit commercial in places, but the old souq and fort are great. The real gem is the canyon. Truly spectacular!

I had a wonderful experience on this tour. As a solo female traveller I was quite nervous but Khalil and the group were wonderful. I was picked up and dropped off to my hotel in a 4x4. There were three other people in the car and they were wonderful. There were plenty of rest breaks given, water was supplied along with refreshments and lunch. Khalil the tour guide kept the group entertained and I really felt the omani hospitality. Nizwa was amazing and I enjoyed jebel shams as well.
