Von dort geht es hinauf zum Jebel Shams, bekannt als Grand Canyon of Oman, wo Sie einen malerischen Fotostopp oben genießen (kein Wandern erforderlich). Nachdem Sie den atemberaubenden Bergblick genossen haben, fahren Sie zurück nach Maskat. Überall in Maskat abholen, dann Fahrt von Maskat nach Nizwa dauert etwa 2 Stunden
Nizwa Souq, ein lokaler Marktplatz, der eine Vielzahl von Waren anbietet, darunter Schmuck, Töpferwaren, Fisch und Fleisch. Die Liste geht weiter! Danach fahren wir nach Al Hamra, um das Dorf zu besuchen, wo wir erfahren, wie die Einheimischen in früheren Zeiten einen Lebensstil schaffen. Nach dieser kurzen Tour fahren wir weiter nach Misfah al Abryeen, einem wirklich unberührten Dorf, das am Fuße des Jebel Shams liegt. Hier sehen Sie das große Falaj-Wassersystem, das die nahe gelegene Vegetation mit Wasser versorgt. Es gibt zahlreiche markierte Wanderwege im ganzen Dorf, die Sie sich Zeit nehmen und erkunden sollten.
Wir verlassen Maskat nach Nizwa, der alten Hauptstadt des Oman. Wir statten der berühmten Nizwa-Festung einen Besuch ab. Heute ist die Festung ein Museum, das die Geschichte der Festung und der Umgebung zeigt. Bei einem Spaziergang durch die Festung haben Sie einen atemberaubenden Blick auf die antike Stadt und die nahe gelegenen Berge. Anschließend fahren wir zum Berg Jebel Shams. Als nächstes nehmen wir Sie mit auf eine kleine Tour in einem kleinen Museum in dem kleinen alten Dorf AL Hamra. Die Einheimischen zeigen Ihnen unter anderem den traditionellen omanischen Lebensstil im Dorf.
Nach der Reise genießen Sie eine malerische Fahrt zurück nach Maskat, die etwa 3 Stunden dauert.

I had a great day, travelling alone. Mohammed was an excellent guide, very informative. We left Muscat at 7am and arrived in Nizwa in time to catch the end of the Friday goat market - well worth seeing. The souq was interesting and helpful to have a guide then sufficient time to look round the fort. The drive to the canyon view point is spectacular as is the canyon, amazing views. The village of Al Hamra is well worth visiting, more beautiful views and interesting fauna and irrigation system. Lunch was excellent at a local restaurant, reasonably priced. Altogether an excellent day, we were out for 11 hours.

We went on a wonderful trip to Nizwa and Jebel Shams with our perfect guide Said Al kiyumi. Said told us a lot of interesting information on our way and during sightseeing. Also he took some great pictures of us. We didn't rush through sights but rather comfortably explored the area. This full day trip is totally worth the money as the nature and the historical heritage are spectacular. It is hard to visit Jebel Shams on your own so it is better to go with an experienced driver and a prepared car for a safe ride. It was an amazing experience. Said Al Kiyumi texted the day before to introduce himself. He arrived promptly in a clean, luxurious, air conditioned car, well stocked with bottled water. On our way to Nizwa he gave us the historical details about the fort and soqu. He’s well spoken, witty and with a good sense of humor. He anticipated our needs and ensured we saw all the sights ; never feeling rushed. We look forward to exploring more of Oman with him.
