Fantastic from start to finish. Private water taxi and English speaking tour guide. The tour guide was unbelievable in knowledge and experience, I would truly recommend this fascinating experience.
Amazing factory, meeting and drop off not so good We were asked to meet 10-15 minutes before departure, the guide arrived at the start time even though it was 35 degrees and no shade anywhere. The factory was amazing, staff there helpful and informative. Our return boat trip dropped us on the opposite side of the island and we were left with a 30 minute walk, again in 35 degree temperatures. This was on the back of the original guide advising we would be dropped back to start point. The walk back was even more difficult for the pregnant couple on the tour with us. All in all, factory worth while, but the coordination needs to be better. We called the tour operator and he said, ‘you will have to walk back’ - not good enough
This was an amazing experience to watch an art that has been around for 100’s of years that takes so much skill and talent! In this private excursion we were able to watch up close and personal and hear the background history of the family business. After the demonstration we could walk around the factory with a guide as he explained the different kinds of art they have on display/and for sale! Would highly recommend!
I've always loved this art form and was mesmerized by watching the artists in action. I also came home with a much lighter wallet after purchasing a beautiful piece. However, there is no pressure to buy and they have lovely items in their souvenir section. Plus, the ride to and from from Venice was great.
Girl from the tour service was no where to be found. Our “tour” was already supposed to leave so we were panicking. We finally found her with know way of knowing except trial & error. Al she did was take us to a water taxi and leave us and another family not sure what was going on. The glass blowing place was great but we probably could have done without the tour service
I was very excited about going to Murano and doing this tour. Unfortunately I was disappointed. We were met on the dock by our tour person who seemed very focused on moving us very quickly through the tour in order to get us to the “showroom” the store to possibly purchase some items. We were in the glass blowing area/demonstration for somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes (we witnessed 1 glass being made). We were then moved along to the showroom. I feel that more focus could be put on explaining the glass blowing process to get to the finished product. As you will see if you do this tour there are many beautiful and intricate finished pieces in the showroom. I would have like to learn more about how colour is included in creating the products and seeing more demonstrations. After “shopping” in the showroom our group of 12 was gathered up and then put on a boat to return to what we thought was going to be the original pick up point. Instead we were to taken to some unknown drop off point. This was very concerning to all of the tour participants. The driver then returned the entire group back to Murano. The representatives at the factory were very limited in assisting the group in getting back to the original pick up point. A call was also placed to the Trip organizer that we met at the pick up point—she indicated there was no choice because the size of the boat could not go through the canals to get us back to the original pick up point. The boat at the pick up point was a smaller boat that took us through the canals and on to Murano. In the end the factory rep arranged for a smaller boat to pick up the group and did in the end return all of us the original pick up point. The experience was very frustrating (especially because it stated in the booking that you would be picked up and dropped off at the same location—if that is not the case it should be reflected in the add). This was a very frustrating experience both from a transportation perspective as well as the tour itself. Not really sure I would recommend this tour.
We were a party of 3 people and the tour only lasted 2 hours not 3 hrs. We got to watch the glass blowing for 10-15mins then we were rushed off to the showroom for the hard sell to buy very expensive Murano glass. The return water taxi did not take us all the way back to where we got on but instead the other side of the island (shortest distance from Murano island) where we had to make our own way. The tour was delayed starting for 1/2 hr because the tour guide changed the meeting point at the last minute & the 3rd guest did not receive the msg. Not impressed and I would not recommend!
The private tour was wonderful. Julius at New Murano Gallery was excellent, informative, and personable.
The tour was 90 euro and included a boat ride, some time watching the glass blowers and a tour in the shop. This seemed like a good value compared to a short 90 euro gondola ride. It was slated for 1-1.5 hours but was closer to 2 because our water taxi didn’t return on time.
Easy enough experience. Just meet at designated place and be lead to a water taxi. A guide will greet you on arrival and take you in to view. They are happy to answer questions. Just be aware more than half your time on this tour will be designated to looking at their large display shop, with guide turned salesman following you around suggesting items you may like to purchase.
