We were 4 american couple that had a german speaking driver. Understanding this is a self guided tour, having an english speaking driver may have helped somewhat it making the trip worthwhile. He was basically an uber driver that brought us to 4 stops....little heidelberg, weikersheim castle, rothernberg and wurzburg. It would have been helpful to hear something about each place and maybe some tips. You dont have to be guide, just someone from area. At the castle we had a german guide....in rothenberg the driver took us to a terrible restaurant and most of the attractions like the crime museum and st. Jacobs church were closed. By the time we gor to Wurzburg the buidling was closed and it got dark in 10 minutes. If you think its worth driving to 3 places for 30 minutes at each and one place for 2 hours after a one hour too long lunch for $270 a couple...well do it. It was for us a 10 hour uber ride, actually uber drivers gave us more.
Hello Maria, first of all I told you that the driver does not speak English fluently - on phone, you remember? We do not work with UBER, if you look at our website www.romanticroadcoach.com you will see that the driver is one fo our collegues! And you got the information that there is no guide with you. Your were invited to visit Weikersheim castle and you were invited in our wine tasting and the driver arranged it especially for you, please stay correct! The restaurant "Schranne" in Rothenburg is a traditional family owned one, you can red the reviews in most of the known websites, terrible is definitely the wrong describtion, this is more than unfair! And nobody told you to go there, this is a recommodation from the Romantic Road Association! By the way, you traveld in low season and of course it is possible that some attractions are closed, but Rothenburg itself is a museum and the Christmas village is opened all over the year, as well as the churches, but you have to come there during the opening hours. They itinary was made for you, exclusivly and you gave us an go for the day. You never were in time and the driver was waiting for you without any complains. So you spend 45 minutes in Wertheim and Weikersheim and 3 hours in Rothenburg. Last stop was in Würzburg, 30 minutes at the offical starting point of the Romantic Road. Sorry, of course it is getting dark at this time of the year, but the Residence is illuminated. If you look at the map you will be able to see the distance from Frankfurt to Rothenburg....so for this program you need 10 hours. If you think, that UBER offers he better product, please use them next time! All the best for you!
