Maria was a lovely host but unfortunately we would not book this experience again or recommend to other families like ours. The house was 30+euro taxi ride away (and necessary to have uber to have a taxi back to port). The host spoke no English, and while we managed, it made for a very quiet and more-formal experience. 6 people was too big for her kitchen and space. Our group ranged from 12-68, and the kids would have more enjoyed something lively and fun. In July, the home was also not cool enough for 6 people plus host cooking in a small space. Viator should allow a request for an English speaking host if necessary. If recommended for a friend with children, I would suggest something more lively.
Amazing cooking class experience in family home in Messina. Class instructor was incredibly warm and we could feel her passion for the food and cooking.
This is a great way to immerse yourself in Italian culture. Stephani taught me how to make Tiramisu and pasta from scratch and the family participated. The daughter was the interpreter. While I enjoyed my food I talked with the children who are young adults and learnt about their life in Messina. This is the best tour I have done. I throughly enjoyed it and would totally recommend the experience,
Lots of fun making and eating. Learned a few things about making pasta. I actually bought a pasta making machine the next day
A wonderful Sunday afternoon spent with Stefania and her family, learned so much in 3 hours. Highly reccomended
We had such a lovely time with Stefania and her son! Perfect hosts for this experience(: they welcomed us in to their home and showed how to make two varieties of pasta dishes. They provided delicious appetizers including a fresh made focaccia and traditional Sicilian options to put with it. Not to mention the tiramisu she made for dessert was the best we’ve ever had!! During our lunch we were also given lots of recommendations for local places to see the views of Messina. I would recommend this experience to all! 10/10!
This was so much fun! I highly recommend. We were welcomed as if we were family. I cannot wait to perfect my pasta making skills at home.
This is a real, authentic Italian pasta making experience. We were in an authentic Italian home with real Nonna’s using their family recipe.
The host was lovely and warm but the whole experience felt underwhelming. We did not make tiramisu or offered any dessert. Cooking only lasted about 30 min and the rest of the time we had apertivo and ate our meal. The meal was delicious.
We had a wonderful time from start to finish on this unforgettable cooking class in Messina! The chef and her husband are lovely and welcomed us into their lovely home. We chose to have them pick us up from the cruise port and take us back which was extra but so worth it for the convenience and we got to chat with him and learn more about their family before the class started. The pasta was so much fun to make while being so easy! The kids even loved to participate in rolling the dough out and putting it through the machine. We also made tiramisu which was probably the best I’ve ever had! You will not be disappointed at all with this experience!
