Our visit to the Skiathos Dog Shelter was, without question, the absolute highlight of our holiday. What started as a simple visit to walk a few rescue dogs turned into a life-changing experience, as we fell in love and ended up adopting two beautiful dogs who are now part of our family. We will be forever grateful for everything this incredible sanctuary has done. The dedication, compassion and hard work of everyone involved is truly inspiring. Sarah, Simon, Ian and David, along with all of the other volunteers, are wonderful ambassadors for the sanctuary. They generously give so much of their own time, energy and love to care for these amazing dogs and help them find the forever homes they deserve. Their kindness and commitment shine through in everything they do. The shelter itself is spotless, well organised and filled with love. Every dog is clearly cared for with patience, affection and respect. Taking the dogs for a walk through the beautiful hills of Skiathos was such a magical and rewarding experience, and seeing their excitement and happiness is something we’ll never forget. If you’re visiting Skiathos, this is an absolute must-visit. Whether you can walk a dog, make a donation, volunteer your time or, like us, even change your life by adopting, every bit of support makes a huge difference. Thank you to everyone at the Skiathos Dog Shelter for the incredible work you do and for bringing two wonderful dogs into our lives. We cannot recommend this amazing charity highly enough.

Please please visit the dog shelter in Skiathos and see the amazing care they do for these beautiful animals, including the amazing volunteers. Also, please donate as they rely on donations as they only get a small fraction of the cost per ticket. It was a wholesome day spent and it felt so warming to know the help these dogs have received. Also afterwards at the sit down meal learning traditional Greek dish’s was amazing. The food tasted AMAZING and definitely one of my favourite meals during the whole trip! The gentleman/host on our coach was super friendly and put a smile on our faces with his lovely energy. Definitely recommend this trip.

I've visited Skiathos many times, but this was my first visit to the dog shelter. As I can't have a dog because of my husband's allergy, I was really looking forward to taking some dogs out for walks. The shelter is clearly very busy and has a large number of dogs. I took two dogs out separately, Marie and Britney. Unfortunately, both walks were disappointing. In each case, we only got as far as the road before the dogs lay down and refused to move. This may have been due to the heat or perhaps because they had already been walked several times that day. The only time they showed much enthusiasm was when they tried to eat old dog poop bags that had been discarded along the road, which I found quite worrying. I could see other walkers having the same problem too. I left feeling sad rather than uplifted. That said, the staff were friendly, committed and clearly doing their best in difficult circumstances. While I appreciate the work they do, I wouldn't return for another walking visit.

We were rather excited to do this trip. Walked a lovely little dog called Stella, very nervous but enjoyed being out. If life permitted I would be moving out here and volunteering at the Skiathos dog shelter. What a great bunch of humans. On for a cookery demo of some traditional Greek dishes by the fabulous Maria, at her taverna, followed by lunch of the same. Cheese pies in filo pastry, stuffed tomatoes and peppers, then some syrupy carrot with Greek yoghurt. Yum. Throw in the hiliarious old school British humour of Michael, our guide, to make for a thoroughly enjoyable day. Would highly recommend getting booked. This trip only runs on a Sunday, so limited spaces.

This dog shelter is well worth a visit, the staff do a tremendous job caring for the dogs and are open to questions from visitors and they are very professional and friendly. Now here's the BUT coming! Do not book this trip through Tui, you are told by the rep that 35 euro is given to the shelter in donation but in fact only 5 euro is given to them. I understand that Tui needs to make some money but for 70 euro per person (you do get a cookery demo and a greek lunch) the cost ratio to the donation and paying for the meal and the transport does not balance out. Definitely in Tui's favour. So if you do book be aware that Tui is getting the bulk of your money and only a pittance to the people providing their services.

If you’re visiting Skiathos and looking to support something truly worthwhile, I can highly recommend Skiathos Dog Shelter 💕 The shelter does an incredible job caring for and rescuing dogs on the island, and the love and dedication from everyone there is amazing to see. Whether you visit, volunteer, donate, walk a dog or simply help spread the word, every little bit of support makes a difference. It’s such a rewarding experience and a lovely way to give something back whilst on holiday. The dogs are beautiful, friendly and so deserving of love and care. Definitely worth supporting if you’re in Skiathos 🐾

We had a lovely day out and particularly enjoyed our walk with the dogs. This was followed by a cooking demonstration and a nice lunch at the taverna. Thanks to Michael our guide.

Brilliant day out! Well organised and a must for dog and food lovers. Great to combine the dog walking in the morning and work up an appetite to enjoy the delicious local freshly prepared food afterwards. Definitely recommend 😊

The organization of the event was perfect (pick-up, schedule, companion info). The Dog shelter team has chosen the dogs that are right for us. The dogs and we had a lot of fun. Everyone there is doing a great job. Maria's cooking demonstration in her cozy tavern was very informative and casual. The presented dishes ( 3 courses) were served to us afterwards - very delicious. Overall a great and entertaining event for the whole family and absolutely recommendable. Thank you very much
