Wir beginnen diese Tour, indem wir 25 km südöstlich von Siem Reap nach Kampong Phluk fahren. Obwohl es als schwimmendes Dorf bekannt ist, ist es nicht unbedingt streng. Die Häuser hier schweben nicht, sondern sitzen auf hohen Stelzen. Es gibt rund 700 Familien, die zu 100% ethnische Khmer sind. Sie verdienen ihren Lebensunterhalt mit Fischerei und Landwirtschaft in der Umgebung. Auf dem Weg halten wir in einem schönen Dorf, um die Reisfelder mit Kühen und Büffeln zu sehen. Die meisten Häuser in Kampong Phluk befinden sich an Land und wurden auf 8 Meter hohen Pfählen errichtet, um sie vor Überschwemmungen in der Monsunzeit zu schützen, wenn das Wasser steigt. Sie bestehen aus einer speziellen Holzart, die sowohl bei trockenem als auch bei nassem Wetter beständig ist. Die Haupthäuser bestehen aus Holz, Palmblättern und einem Zinndach. Sie können schwimmende Fischfarmen, eine Krokodilfarm, Hausgeschäfte und mobile Bootsgeschäfte sehen. Es gibt auch ein überflutetes Waldgebiet zu besuchen.
Wir fahren dann zurück nach Siem Reap und besuchen die Wat Thmey Pagode. Hier ist die Seite der Tötungsfelder von Siem Reap. Sie können etwas über das brutale Regime der Roten Khmer erfahren, das vom berüchtigten Pol Pot angeführt wird. Unser Reiseleiter wird die Geschichte von sich selbst, seiner Familie und Freunden während des Völkermords erzählen.
Wir werden auch Siem Reap City besuchen, um das Kriegsmuseum zu besuchen, das einige der Militärfahrzeuge und Waffen zeigt, die während des langen und blutigen Bürgerkriegs verwendet wurden. Unser Reiseleiter wird seine Lebenserfahrung während dieses Krieges teilen.

This is my second time to Kampong Phluk but the perspective is completely different. The last time I was here was when the water covered the staircase to the house and this time we were able to walk on land. Walking throuh the "floating village" brought us closer to the people. Our guide Peter (Piset) was amazing. He is extremely knowledgable and shared great stories and history at each of the sites. I learned alot about Cambodia's history from 12th century all the way to more recent time. Peter is a living history book!

We decided to go on this trip and booked just 2 days before leaving for Cambodia. But it turned out to be the main highlight of our trip to Cambodia. Gent, our guide was excellent. He explained to us in detail the history, culture and way of life in Cambodia. He was very well informed and made our trip a super hit. This is a trip for anyone who wants to know, understand Cambodia and not just go sightseeing. Will definitely recommend this trip. The floating village was nice but we enjoyed the visit to the war museum and the killing fields.

We took a full day tour with Angkor Doors with tour guide Bunppeng. We took the boat ride to the floating village, visited the War Museum, the Angkor National Museum, and the Wat Thmey Killing Fields. The sites were all certainly worth the visit and we learned so much about Siem Reap beyond just the temples at Angkor Wat. The service provided by our guide was top-notch. Bunppeng not only provided us with a wealth of information about the sites we were visiting, but also shared much of his own background and family experiences living in and around Siem Reap during the turbulent years since 1975. We were grateful for all he shared with us and for his willingness to answer all our questions. If you're in Siem Reap for a few days and have done the Angkor Wat visit, this tour is a very good add-on that lets you see a lot of things all in one day, but still at a reasonable pace and for a reasonable price. Our family highly recommends this tour. And if you happen to get Bunppeng as your tour guide, then it will be even better.
