The boat tour in Kotor was an ok experience, but it was so crowded that it took away from our enjoyment. They asked us to be there 30 minutes early, but then we sat around in the sun with hundreds of other people and left 15 minutes late. The photo on viator shows a boat of maybe 10-12 people in a cave. The boat we were on had 30-35 people and we couldn't get close to the cave in the boat because there were so many people swimming in the water. There were easily another 20 boats in the same small cove at the same time. The swimming was nice, but you have to be very careful to not get hit by one of the boats. The operators were nice and shared good information about the sites on the tour. We didn't have enough time on the 3rd stop in town. We were let off for about 10 minutes which was just enough time to grab a gelato, so no real ability to explore.
If you want to see the blue cave, you have to swim to it and you will be in the water among other small boats and you have to be careful for the current not to take you near their individual motors. You have to be a strong swimmer because there's a chance your boat will be the farthest. There will be approximately 7 to 15 boats with the motor running near the blue caves.
This was a great addition to the vacation. The boat we had reservations left without us, because of our cruise’s charter boats - we were late. The company made it right immediately and put us on another boat. Would recommend to all family and friends.
We unfortunately missed our scheduled Blue Cave tour by about 10 minutes due to unexpected delays while parking our rental car. I completely understand that the boat could not wait, and I don’t expect a refund for arriving late. However, what disappointed me was the communication afterward. When I contacted the operator to ask about joining the next available departure, the responses were very slow. They initially mentioned a 6:00 PM option, but by the time they replied it was already too late. I then asked if we could join the earliest tour the following morning, but I never received a clear response. Since the ticket remained active for 24 hours, I was unable to cancel my Viator booking while waiting for their reply. If they had simply told me that no next-day option was available, I could have canceled within the allowed time. The experience itself may be great, but I hope the operator improves their communication with customers, especially when plans change. Clear and timely responses would make a big difference
The meeting point was very unorganized. We ended up leaving 20 min late but didn’t get an extra 20 minutes. The boat in the pics shown is not what we got, it was an inflatable boat. There was no wifi like advertised nor was any scuba gear given. Our skipper didn’t speak the entire time not even to introduce himself. Only at 2 points did they play a pre recorded piece for info. When we were in the blue cave they didn’t say anything. We just drove in and sat for 30 seconds and left. We missed one stop off. We did swim for about two minutes. The skippers wife and young kid was on the boat, and the kid was walking around pushing people to get to a seat. 4 people didn’t have a seat they sat on the edge of the boat. This wasn’t a tour it was more like a ferry that you got to do 10 minutes of swimming with. I use Viator all the time, this is number 6 in this trip alone and this is the only time I’ve ever written a bad review. I would not recommend this trip at all.
The guys were great. Although the Blue Grotto was closed due to waves, we did something else instead: swimming.
This is not the tour we paid for. We were placed on a different boat, with people from a different tour who were not dressed to snorkel. The boat didn't have snorkeling gear. When I asked for a life vest to use while I swam in the cave, I was told "no, they're only for emergencies. " We also were not taken to the second stop, as listed in the itinerary. SKIP this company.
Great excursion. Was easy to locate meeting spot. Captain of vessel was very friendly and his English was great. Answered all our questions. The tour was the perfect length of time. You go into the WWII sub tunnels which were awesome, blue water caves, private quick swim, quick stop for a coffee/gelato in Persat pass the monetary and holy rock and then back. Definitely would book again no question!!!
I thought there would be actual stops to see stuff. However, it was more like a drive by. It covers a great distance as advertised. The weather was pleasant for a nice long speed boat ride out to the ocean and back. I recommend a light wind breaker or rain jacket as there is occasional spray. There was 5-10 minutes for swimming but there were so many boats close by that I didn’t think it was a good idea. A few kids jumped in. There was another stop on the way back that was 10 minutes but there’s not much you can do in that time. Some people used a pay-bathroom. Overall the scenery was spectacular. The blue cave was beautiful but full of course. I would recommend only if your neck and back is sound as it does bounce around.
Where to catch the boat was a little weird because there are so many different tour operators. Be sure to ask for the person in charge - she was organizing several different tour companies. Once we got in the boat, the tour was awesome! Our skippers, Baubon and Jovan were awesome. They stopped to tell us information, ensured we swam in a safe location, and were willing to adjust the tour to give us more time where we wanted. Just be aware that there are so many boats that you only get two minutes in the blue cave. But still worth the trip!
