I loved the legitimate authenticity of my visit and felt welcomed as family. Our guide lived in the village and her family heritage was full of former guides. I learned so much about Maori culture as well as the geothermal activity, and the sweet corn was a delightful and delicious touch.
This was an excellent and informative tour the young lady who took this was incredible This is a must do trip
The most wonderful experience that I have had in a native Maori village. The purchasing of the tickets, the instructions to meet with the tour guide, the logistics the friendliness of every one involved in the event. Excellent and I most definitely will recommend this to my family and friends.
We highly recommend the Whakarewarewa Living Māori Village tour. Our guide, John, is a descendant of the Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao. His great-great-great-grandmother was a highly esteemed kupuna and a gifted tour guide. The history of this community is amazing, as well as the village itself. We were fortunate to have only four people in our tour group, which made it more intimate and provided a deeper, richer experience. Mahalo John. We were honored to be among the spirits of your ancestors.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Maile! We're thrilled to hear that John made your tour memorable and that you appreciated the rich history of our village. It's wonderful to know that the intimate group size enhanced your visit. Your kind words mean a lot to us!
Great tour to experience the village, and their culture. Our guide was very informative and friendly, and we sampled corn on the cob cooked in the hot water pool they use for cooking - it was delicious! We also did the self guided tour around the thermal pools afterwards, very interesting to see and experience. Would recommend doing the combo package.
Thank you for sharing your experience, happywonderer17! We're thrilled you enjoyed the tour and the unique cultural insights. Sampling corn cooked in the hot pools is a highlight for many. Your recommendation of the combo package is much appreciated! We hope you continue to explore and enjoy.
This is truly a unique tour and a great way to experience the Maori culture. It is a must do for anyone wanting to understand the origins of the New Zealand people. It is wheelchair accessible and is also easy to get around for anyone with mobility issues. Everyone who works / lives here are very helpful and friendly.
We visited a Moati Village. Learned a little bit about their culture. Saw some geizers. and attended a Moati show.
It was very nice to dive into the knowledge of the maori. I liked the singing of a maori best before we started.
The guided tour was very interesting, but there were nearly 30 in our group. It made the time seem very rushed, and our guide (who was excellent) had to spend lots of time chivvying people along - so there was little time for questions. I would suggest a maximum of 15 people to make everyone feel valued.
Tour was very informative, guide was great and self guided part was good as well as could cover at your own pace.
