We had an incredible experience visiting Machu Picchu with Miguel as our guide! From start to finish, we were thoroughly impressed by his professionalism and deep knowledge. You can instantly tell that he does his job with immense passion and energy. Beyond being an outstanding guide, Miguel is hilarious and brought our entire group together, making the trip so much fun for everyone. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and we would absolutely love to go on more tours with him in the future. Highly recommended!

The experience of the Inca trail tour to Machu Pichu with Sam travels was perfect and very well organised! Starts with the pick up and the drop off which they helped us a lot because we were staying in a different place. And the whole organisation of the transportation, hotel and the tour itself was amazing! The guides we had, Miguel and Gimmy were very welcoming, experienced, with lots of knowledge, very fun and professional. Thank you for the great tour! We will definitely recommend and come again.

Grover was our tour guide and I feel like I should now have a college degree in Inca history from all the information he imparted! He is extremely knowledgeable and made our experience unforgettable! We did the four-day trek with Sam Travel and our guide, Juan, was with us all the way, with attention to details and great knowledge in his explanations of the archaeological sites visited. In particular, I was impressed by the care in mentioning the academic sources for the information provided. The food was excellent, with Edison taking special care of the vegetarian diet of my wife. We had a fantastic experience with SAM Travel Peru throughout our trip. Our guides, Miguel and Junior, were both extremely competent, knowledgeable and excellent communicators. They were always happy to answer our questions and provided us with a lot of useful information, which made the experience much more interesting. What really stood out was how attentive and flexible they were. They were very conscious of the effects of altitude and always took our physical condition into consideration. They regularly checked how we were feeling and adapted the pace and arrangements when necessary. The logistics were also very well organised. Pick-ups and transportation were always clearly arranged with us, and they were extremely helpful with our luggage. Whenever possible, they picked us up as close as they could to the locations so that we didn't have to walk long distances carrying our bags. They were also very flexible with timings and always tried to accommodate what worked best for us. We particularly appreciated the small groups. On one tour it was just the two of us, and on another we were a maximum of six people. This made everything much more relaxed and personal. We never felt rushed and there was enough time to properly enjoy each place we visited. Our experience at Machu Picchu was especially good. We had plenty of time with our guide, who was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of useful advice about the best times and ways to visit the different sites. The organisation made the whole experience much easier and more enjoyable. Overall, we felt very well looked after throughout our tours. Miguel and Junior were always available, helpful, empathetic and professional, and we really appreciated the personal attention they gave us. Amazing experience. We went with Sam Travel and were so impressed. Our cook, Edison, prepared delicious dishes every day and our guide, Juan, was so helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and fun through the full time. 10/10 recommend.

Overall an amazing trip with amazing work from the porters and guide, but I wouldn't underestimate the difficulty of the hike. Washington, our guide, was really knowledgeable around machu Picchu and made our trip really smooth from start to end, sticking with us on the bits where we were more nervous on the walk. The cook, Ebber and assistant chef, Uriel, made us delicious and big meals every time, and we were so impressed by the variety they produce with genuinely good food - not sure how they managed that on a four day trek! Ronald, the waiter and all round helper was so sweet, with a smile to wake us up and anticipating our needs before we needed to. Not to mention the porters who were so skillful walking the mountains, with such heavy backpacks. I would say that we did a lot of research on booking the best place in terms of quality of porters treatment. We liked SAM (we had very little communication but they were helping in answering our questions), and they're a local company, but being on the trek pretty much every company seemed to have the same questionable treatment of the porters - huge packs and sleeping in the dining tent with no protection from the outside. The hike was also considerably harder than we expected - my partner and I are both fit with good day hiking experience, but the combination of 7+ hr walking days, the altitude, and extremely extremely steep steps was definitely harder and scarier than we expected. Overall we would make sure you're in full understanding of the difficulty of the hike and happy to have porters, but otherwise would definitely recommend SAM travel and would like to thank our amazing porter and guide team.

Wow!!! The whole experience was absolutely incredible!! We used Sam Travel for the 4 day Inca Trail and they were so great to work with! My husband and I signed up to go and we had another couple we didn’t know in our group. We started as strangers and left as friends! It was a small group, which we loved! Juan was our tour guide! He is AWESOME!! He stayed with us the whole time on the trial, which was so nice because he helped pace us hiking and taught us all along the way. We stopped at several Inca Archaeological Sites and we were richly fed by his knowledge. I had a lot of questions too and he did such a great job at teaching us. Edison was our cook. Each meal was so delicious! It truly is incredible how he creates such tasty and beautiful meals while camping. I took a picture of everything he made us because it was so good and beautiful! 100% recommend Sam Travel, Juan, and Edison! Thank you for an amazing and unforgettable experience!

Can't recommend Sam Travel enough, Washington our guide was fantastic and the entire team of porters, chefs, etc. were also all incredible. We are a fit couple in our early twenties, and did find the overall hike much more challenging than we expected, so keep that in mind - but if you're keen, Sam Travel is as good a provider as you'll find.
