Katutura - Klassisches Township-Erlebnis

Beschreibung

Linda first led us through the history of Windhoek and then accompanied us into the heart of Katutura. A truly touching experience; meeting some of the township's inhabitants who, despite the truly difficult living conditions and poverty, showed moving warmth and hospitality. The tour ended with a stop at the Oshetu Community Market where we had lunch enjoying traditional kapana accompanied by millet pap. Infinite thanks to Linda for this unforgettable experience
Absolutely terrible: 1. The guides’ English was poor and all 1,5 hours of our trip he was almost silent or could hardly answer our questions 2. Guide was not aware about our tour??? He supposed that the market in katatura is the only point. When we tried to show him initial intenary where market was only one hour of 3 to 4 of the entire tour he was really surprised and unprepared 3. He could not show us anything else in Katutura and nothing at all in Wanaheda (1 hour in description) 4. He struggled to get us to Pioneer Park (several times taking wrong directions) but the guide failed to give us any reasonable info about the place which was closed when we finally arrived. We lost 2 hours of our holidays and some money ( which were not refunded) for this disgusting experience. Don’t repeat our mistake and better use other company

What a wonderful and insightful tour by a local. Linda was our guide - friendly, bright and a joy to be around. Highly recommend to see another part of Windhoek that you may not in Katutura but an important part of history.
I would highly recommend this trip for any westerners looking to experience Namibia authentically. Uushona was an absolutely great guide who showed me places that I definitely would not had gone if not for this tour and he really made me feel welcome in his home town. His knowledge of the area and his connections here made the tour truly one of a kind.
Fantastic guide. She was very knowledgable and friendly.
You don't need a tour for that. Just take a taxi and go there. Not so much to do or to see. A local market.
Hello. 😁 Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. Our Katutura Township Tour is designed to offer much more than simply visiting a market. Throughout the tour, guests explore different areas of the township with knowledgeable local guides who provide insight into the history, culture, daily life, and development of the community. A key part of the experience is the opportunity for genuine social interaction with local residents, businesses, and families, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of life in Katutura beyond what they would typically experience on their own. The tour concludes with a visit to the local market, where guests can enjoy local food and drinks before returning to their accommodation. We understand that every traveller seeks different experiences, and while community-based cultural tours may not appeal to everyone, many of our guests value the personal connections and authentic insights that this experience provides. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you enjoyable travels ahead.
We had a great half day tour with Linda. We learned heaps about the history and historic places in Windhoek. Then she took us through Katatura and the market and sampled some delicious street food. Linda was fun to spend time with and gave us a great insight into the history and society of Namibia.we really enjoyed her company.
Linda is a great guide; she is very friendly and has a lot of knowledge about Windhoek and Namibia. The tour was very interesting, informative, and allowed us to gain a completely different perspective on the city. Highly recommended!
