The Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy is a mesmerizing blend of spirituality, history, and architecture. The serene ambiance of the temple complex coupled with the reverence of devotees creates an atmosphere of profound tranquility. The intricate carvings, vibrant murals, and ornate golden canopy surrounding the sacred tooth relic showcase the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka. Exploring the temple and witnessing the rituals performed by Buddhist monks offers a profound insight into the island’s religious traditions. A visit to Sri Dalada Maligawa is an unforgettable spiritual experience, leaving one with a deep sense of awe and reverence.
Our tour to Kandy started at 5am at our hotel in Induruwa. On our way to Kandy we visited Milennial elephant foundation - $ 15 per person, we could watch and feed the elephants, it was nice. Then we went to Kendy Botanical garden, it was great, but we only had an hour here. There were monkeys everywhere that were used to people. Visiting the temple was an amazing experience, our guide was great. After that, we were at gen museum and some woodcarving, we didn't know it was on the itinerary and it was quite boring. In the same building was lunch and that was good bufet. Highlight of the tour after that was visit of tea garden and factory, lady there learned us a lot and we also bought a lot of tea for a great price. Our driver was really good and we felt safe with him the whole day.
We had a fantastic break, with Mr shantha kumar total of 13 days we have been around so many good places, hotels were very good.
The temple visit is very moving. Magnificent ritual. Very impressive. The Buddhas are magnificent. Unforgettable experience.
, we went at the moment that the service began with all the faithful bringing their offerings as gifts, flowers of all kinds, food in their bowls a rainbow of colours, it was very exciting, the faith of these people, all in line to be able to see this relic just for a moment. The temple is very beautiful. Absolutely worth visiting, it is one of those places that I liked the most.
My wife and myself have just returned from our day trip to Kandy. 5am start ! Got picked up at our hotel by Dinesh (air-conditioned car) for the drive to Kandy. I won't go into all the details but I have to say I couldn't fault anything and Dinesh was so helpful and attentive to our every need ! I would definitely use Bentota travel again.
An absolute MUST do when visiting Sri Lanka. We were collected at 5am by our driver Janith, the drive was about 3 1/2 hours to Kandy. When we arrived we were introduced to our temple guide. He was fantastic, knowledge and interesting. He gave a wonderful detailed talk about the temple, the history of the site. He spoke of the religions and the people there. This was a true high point of our trip. After this we went to the botanical Gardens, these are stunning and we especially loved the bamboo plants and the friendly monkeys. Make sure to walk to the suspension bridge to see an amazing group of bats high in the trees. Janith then collected us for lunch, which was lovely and we saw a traditional wood carving workshop. Then it was time to head back to the hotel and on the way we stopped at a tea garden/ factory. This was very interesting and we loved the free samples!! Throught the day we felt very well cared for and safe, it was a wonderful excursion 😊
Very early start…..elephants 1st. Into Kandy interesting place Temple of Tooth next , wood craving, masks to buy. Lunch Cashmere, silk…herbal gardens Long day from Beruwala.worth going
Another very well organised excursion by Bentota Travel Mart. Early start but worth getting up early as we had enough time to see many attractions. Tooth relic temple is a must visit one and Tea Factory was also very interesting.
