Jebel Shams Tagesausflug : Der Grand Canyon von Oman

This was the absolute best thing we did on our trip to Oman and UAE. Nizwa fort is amazing, and Jebel Shams was absolutely dizzying and breathtaking. Our guide, Khalid, was extremely kind, courteous, and pleasant over the long 11 hour trip, and we loved getting to know him. He was especially helpful in the Nizwa Souq, where he gave us a tour of various dates, spices, halva, saffron, honey, and more. Unlike other souqs we visited, the merchants were helpful and patient rather than pushy. If you're in Muscat, you have to get out of the city to see more of this beautiful country.

Said was a great guide and the trip to Jebel Shams and Nizwa was perfect. We couldn’t have been happier with the time in the Nizwa souq, visiting the mountain and talking with Said throughout the day. And you so much for the wonderful memories!

Your guide did not show up after 40 mins of waiting and although we had confirmation the company said we didn’t have the tour booked. We did not end up going on the tour so I can’t speak about that but the organization is not serious and I’d say they’re very unreliable.

Jebel Shams Grand Canyon is located at an altitude of around 2000 meters above sea level. The view from above is truly amazing. The steep valley between steep hills presents a natural landscape that amazes the eye, producing exotic natural views and amidst the silence of nature there is a mystical impression that is felt. For hiking lovers, Jebel Shams also has quite a complicated track in the form of a path between steep, challenging cliffs that will trigger adrenaline for those who enjoy it.

Wonderful whole day hiking trip with guide, transport, meals, pure peaceful nature and many beautiful views.

It was beautiful but it was a long way to go from the port and we barely made it back to the ship in time at the end of the day. Our guide Juma Said was great. He packed tea and treats and took us to a great market. The best part may have been exploring the ruins around Juma's home which was an add on because our little group was interested, so Juma graciously accommodated us.

This is a convenient way to visit Nizwa and Jebel Shams for a day as a solo traveler. The very friendly guide used his own car which was comfortable and convenient. He also knows the route very well so the risk of getting lost was not a problem. The guide was also very friendly and knowledgeable and was able to answer all the questions I had. I also felt safe the entire time I was on this trip. I highly recommend visiting these two must-see locations if you ever travel to Oman!

We had an amazing day with Hamood al Kulaiby!! He is a great travel guide and driver and really took care that we had an unforgettable day in the Omani mountains! He picked us up by the hotel, right on time, and we then drew to Nizwa, stopping at some location along the road for pictures. In Nizwa we visited the souk and the fort. We then proceeded up in the mountains and canyons were we had lunch at a local restaurant before enjoying the stunning view from the top! On the way back we stopped to see a plantation and the fascinating irrigation system. What we mostly appreciated about this tour and Hamood was to see how much Omani people love their country! Thanks for this great experience!

Oman tours was very accomodating when we contacted them to organise a tailor made tour to Janel Shams starting from Nizwa and including a Balcony walk. Majid,our tour guide, really made this trip wonderful. He gave us an authentic Omani breakfast at beginning of the tour. This was followed by a drive up Jabel Shams and the balcony walk. He was excellent with our 3 and 5 year old, taking rests when needed and he knew how far would be too far for them. At the end of the tour, we were offered an authentic Omani meal experience. I would highly recommend Majid and Oman tours to anyone .
