Ios : Kocherlebnis mit Käse- und Weinverkostung

This was one of the BEST experiences we have had during any travel (and we travel a lot!) first of all, the site is BEAUTIFUL! We were quickly welcomed and made feel right at home. We had the best time from beginning to end. This activity made visiting Ios well worth it!!! The cooking experience was so intimate and every step of the way we felt like part of a Greek family. We made Filo pie, falafel and tzatziki sauce. EVERYTHING TURNED OUT SO GOOD!!! It was my first time trying falafel ever and it was delicious! The kindness and encouragement showed to us every step of the way was felt. We then toured the museum of how the homes were set up and were blessed with so much knowledge regarding how life was in the old days. We then were served a variety of cheese, jams/honey, and grapes and a FANTASTIC homemade wine. Everything was just exceptional and we purchased several items to take with us. They even packed up for us the extra food we made before we left! This is a MUST DO if you are visiting Ios. You will not be sorry!! We feel we have a family to come back to now!! Highly recommend!!

We booked the tasting online and we liked it a lot, both for the cheeses and for the honey, the liqueur, and the wine. The service is very friendly and they explain to you what you are going to eat. The place is very nice and it is good for a break in the cool air. However, I found 28€ to be an excessive price for what is offered to you, even if it is of quality. I recommend it anyway.

An unmissable experience when you visit Ios! The setting is exotic and very peaceful. Hélène welcomes you very warmly; you quickly feel at home! The tasting is delicious and very friendly. I will return to take the traditional cooking lesson!! In short, I recommend it with my eyes closed ;)

In a relaxed small group, not only was cooking here in beautiful surroundings. We also collected the ingredients for our dishes on the farm itself. It was a warm atmosphere and in addition to delicious food there were exciting insights and stories about the life of the islanders before the arrival of tourism and technology. A really nice morning. I would definitely come back!

This experience was by far one of our favorite from our Eurotrip! We got a tour of the grounds, picked our own ingredients and started the cooking fun! The views were amazing, everything was so beautiful and well kept! Helen was so knowledgeable, patient, funny and kind! We cooked and ate and drank some yummy wine! This was one of the most authentic experiences we had during our trip! 10/10 recommend!

We had an absolutely lovely time !! I am traveling with my friends to IOS and we had such an authentic/unique experience! Helen and Hera were so sweet. We collected eggs straight from the chicken coup and even saw one lay and egg. The food was absolutely incredible and definitely an unforgettable experience :)

Beautiful experience! We chose to participate in the full tour, which was a very pleasant and interesting experience. Very friendly atmosphere, culturally interesting activities and excellent cheese. The whole family is so kind! Finally, we also bought some cheese home🤗

My husband and I did this activity during our on our stop in Ios. It was one of our all time favorite experiencs during our tour of Greece honeymoon. We were the only ones in the morning and we went with Eleni and her husband Demetri to pick onions, and garlic, and collect eggs from the coop. Demetri was a loveable goofy prankster teasing his wife in greek and goofing around with my husband. Eleni was an amazing guide telling us about the island, their family farm, and the harvest. Then we went and cooked spanikopita (including the filo) from scratch with their family's cheese with Demetri's mother (Eleni's Mother-in-law) as she repeatedly scolded the super market and effortlessly taught us how to cook. It was so much fun and truly a one-of-a-kind experience. After we made the spanikopita, we joined other guests as we toured the cheese museum and then got a tasting of cheese and homemade wine (and then we got to eat our spanikopita and had plenty to take with us on the road!). I cannot recommend this experience enough. So so so cool and soooo worth it and this family is the nicest, most loving family.

Helen was our host. She was very welcoming and kind, she took us through the gardens, pointing out herbs and vegetables. She also answered all our questions with enthusiasm and gave us a guided tour rich with history about the farm. John was a great help, he helped us get eggs from the chickens and made sure we had everything we needed. Thia Froso was delightful and we had a wonderful time cooking with her. The cheeses, wine and honey were all delicious, and the grounds are beautiful.

The cheeses and honey we sampled were exceptional, made even more special knowing ingredients are sourced locally on Ios, allowing guests to savor authentic flavors of the island. The highlight of our visit was a cooking class where we learned the art of making traditional Greek Pita. Our children enjoyed collecting eggs from the cheesery's hen house and gathering green onions from the garden. They helped prepare the dough and learned the technique to roll it into filo. Each of us had a hands-on experience throughout the process. Our reward was a hand-made spinach pie featuring the the cheesery's delicious cheese! In addition to the cooking class, we were treated to a tour of the cheesery and lessons in the history of life on Ios. The cheesery showcased a traditional single-room home, providing fascinating insights into how locals lived before electricity arrived on the island in 1974. It was remarkable to learn how different life was for the people of Ios just a few generations ago. In summary, this experience was well worth the cost and offered us a unique and memorable adventure that we will cherish forever.
