⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an absolutely incredible day with Josuel! From the moment he picked us up at 9:30 in the morning, he was warm, accommodating, knowledgeable, and completely flexible about making the day feel like our experience. It truly felt like we spent the entire day discovering Salvador with someone who genuinely loves the city and wants you to understand it, not just see it. Josuel took us all over Salvador and explained so much about the city’s history, architecture, and culture along the way. He helped us understand the relationship between the Upper City and Lower City, the history behind the buildings and neighborhoods, and so many details we never would have noticed on our own. We rode the Elevador Lacerda, stopped to look at beautiful local art, visited a wonderful handmade ceramics place that was a little off the beaten path, and had a delicious, fresh lunch that was included in the tour. What made the day especially memorable was how much Josuel shared with us about Afro-Bahian culture and the history of Salvador. He gave us so much context about why certain traditions exist, how different parts of the city evolved, and how much of that history is still present in Salvador today. We also happened to be touring on an especially interesting day in the city. It was the first day of election campaigning, and we were also able to walk for a while alongside the Caminhada Azoany procession connected with the São Roque/São Lázaro celebrations. Josuel explained what we were seeing and why it was significant, which made the experience so much more meaningful. This was not one of those tours where you feel rushed from one attraction to another. It was a full, full day of exploring, talking, learning, eating, laughing, stopping when something caught our attention, and seeing places we never would have found ourselves. By the end of the day, I really felt like we had experienced Salvador through Josuel’s eyes, and that made the day incredibly special. It was exciting, educational, and honestly just life-giving. We had such a wonderful experience with him and would absolutely recommend Josuel to anyone wanting to really experience and understand Salvador. Thank you again Josuel! 🙏🏽
I very much appreciate your review. Thank you!
Our experience with Olafemi Tours in Salvador was absolutely incredible. From the initial communication to the tour itself, everything was seamless, thoughtful, and far exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Josuel, was exceptionally knowledgeable, passionate, and welcoming. He gave us a deep and authentic look into Bahia’s rich Afro-Brazilian history and cultural heritage—an experience that went far beyond anything we could have learned from a standard guidebook. The Historical African-Oriented City Tour was a 5–6 hour deep dive into Salvador’s African heritage, including powerful visits to Pelourinho and the Dique do Tororó, as well as meaningful opportunities to meet local artisans and learn about their work. Walking through these historic and culturally significant sites while hearing about the history, traditions, and resilience of the community was both educational and deeply moving. Josuel also recommended several excellent restaurants that added another layer to our experience, offering a wonderful blend of local culture, history, and cuisine. On our last day, we attended a performance by Balé Folclórico da Bahia, Brazil’s only professional folk dance company. The performance was extraordinary, with high-energy productions that showcased traditional Afro-Brazilian culture, sacred Orixá rituals, capoeira, and samba. If you are visiting Salvador and want a meaningful, high-quality, and unforgettable cultural experience, booking with Olafemi Tours is an absolute must. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

This was truly an amazing and unforgettable historical and cultural experience! We wanted to learn more about the history of Salvador and, in particular, understand the deep African heritage and influence that shaped the city. This tour gave us exactly that and so much more. Our guide, Isaco, was absolutely wonderful. He was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely interested in sharing the history of Salvador with us. At each important location, he provided meaningful historical context and helped us understand the stories, people, struggles, and contributions behind what we were seeing. We left the tour with a much deeper appreciation for Salvador, its African roots, its culture, and its people. It was much more than sightseeing—it was an opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect with the history of this incredible city. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants more than just beautiful photos and tourist attractions. If you want to truly understand Salvador and its rich African heritage, this is the tour to take. And if you’re lucky enough to have Isaco as your guide, you’re in excellent hands! ❤️ Thank you, Isaco, for making our experience so meaningful and memorable!

Trip Advisor only allows you to choose one experience but I did all of them during my week in Salvador. I cannot imagine that my time in both Rio de Janeiro and Bahia would have as rich and impactful without Josuel's in depth knowledge of Afro-Brazilan culture. His thoughtful contextualization made each day better than the last. He and his team are also punctual, thorough and professional which made my group feel secure and very well taken care of. As the kids say, I have no notes. Olufemi Tours is a MUST.
Thank you For the great review. This is really important for us
This was my second tour with Oldafemi Tours, and, like the first, it was fantastic. Josuel did an excellent job of informing us about the profound influence of Africa and Afro-Brazilians on shaping Salvador. Personally, I found the history fascinating and insightful, in no small part due to Josuel, a native of Bahia with deep knowledge. I rate this tour and experience a 10 out of 10. Please take this tour. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you so much, Mr. Bryan. It was a great pleasure meeting and hosting you in Salvador
