San Damiano ist eine Kirche mit einem Kloster in der Nähe von Assisi, Italien. Es wurde im 12. Jahrhundert erbaut und war das erste Kloster des Ordens der Heiligen Klara, in dem die Heilige Klara ihre Gemeinde errichtete.
Die Basilika Santa Maria degli Angeli ist die siebtgrößte christliche Kirche in einer grandiosen Skala. Seine Pracht mag im Widerspruch zur Einfachheit stehen, die der hl. Franziskus selbst gepredigt hat, aber die Pilgerherden, die die primitive Porziuncola-Kapelle und die Cappella del Transito besuchen, forderten ein Gebäude, in dem die Gläubigen untergebracht werden konnten.
Es ist 4 km vom Zentrum von Assisi entfernt. Das weiße Gebäude liegt in einer ruhigen, von Bergen umgebenen Gasse. Dies ist die Einsiedelei der Carceri, wo der heilige Franziskus und seine Anhänger beteten und meditierten. "Eremo" bedeutet Eremitage auf Italienisch

The young Italian woman, who was our tour guide, gave us an amazing informative and enjoyable tour of St. Francis and St. Claires's spiritual journey in Assisi! I learnt so much! We could feel that she truly loved her job and her spirit was inspiring and contagious! Forgive me, for not remembering your name. I will always remember your spirit! This was a memorable experience for my 2 adult daughters and I. I want to mention and thank the van driver, who navigated the curvy roads so skillfully. Assisi is truly a spiritual historic quaint unique town, which I fell in love with! A pure joy! The landscape scenery of the countryside from St. Francis' Hermitage and His Basilica was truly breathtaking! This is my favorite town, so far! Don't miss it!
A wonderful and informative tour of special Franciscan sites outside the old town of Assisi. A must for those who follow Franciscan spirituality.

First, Francesca was a wonderful guide. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about Francis and Assisi, and attentive to what we hoped to experience by visiting these 3 sites. I wish the tour was a little longer to allow for more "contemplative" time - particularly Eremo della Carceri (which was wonderful: beautiful statues of Francis, Francis' bed, quiet grounds...) and San Damiano (both were peaceful & uncrowded in contrast with the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli/Porziuncola which was extremely crowded and packed with tour groups). We were 2 couples of family and the transportation was in a comfortable private van. We were very happy with the overall experience.
