CJ is a walking encyclopedia for all things Harlem. The love & pride she has for her city is clear. It was so impressive that she knew so many locals & they knew her. Sen. Cleare even stopped to say hello & talked about the great things Harlem has to offer. We returned the very next day for the African American Day Parade. We experienced the soul & culture of the city with this tour & because of it will definitely be back.
Our tour was awesome!! Doris, our tour guide was very kind and knowledge about the area and its history. The soul food lunch at Jacob's was delicious as well. We would definitely recommend this tour when visiting Harlem

I was really disappointed that I did not see more of Harlem and its history. Our guide walked very slowly; she wasn’t upbeat or engaging. Viator says it’s 2 hours, but it’s actually 3. The provided lunch was mid at best.

Be prepared for a lot of walking on this one, but you will learn what it was LIKE in Harlem during the Renaissance, and even before and after. Our tour guide was AMAZING...she was an older lady, but could out walk us all! It does go over the 3 hours listed (at least ours did), but it was so interesting. You'll come away wanting to learn more on your own as well.

I echo what Zoe said in her review from a week ago. The amazing Doris was the best tour guide! She was so knowledgeable, friendly, and as a lifelong local, she had so many great stories to tell us! We spent 5 hrs with the amazing Doris who was so incredibly knowledgeable about Harlem! We got a chance to taste some local food, visited the Jazz Museum and stopped at so many spots that we wouldn’t have been to otherwise. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn about the history of the area!
