Diese 14-15-stündige Tour besucht das Kloster Khor Virap mit seiner herrlichen Aussicht auf den biblischen Berg Ararat. Die nächste Station ist der Klosterkomplex Noravank, der in seiner Konstruktion einzigartig ist, da die Kirche der Heiligen Muttergottes das einzige zweistöckige Kloster in Armenien ist. Als nächstes kommt das Kloster Tatev, ein spirituelles Zentrum mit herausragender wissenschaftlicher und politischer Bedeutung. Das Kloster ist von wunderschöner Natur umgeben. Auf dem Rückweg von Tatev nehmen Sie die längste Seilbahn der Welt ohne Haltestellen „Tatever“.

Khor Virap ist die berühmteste Pilgerstätte Armeniens, da sie direkt mit der Annahme des Christentums verbunden ist. Als Staatsreligion wurde das Christentum in Armenien im Jahr 301 aufgrund von Bemühungen des Heiligen Gregor des Erleuchters angenommen, der, bevor er König Trdat den Dritten zum Christentum bekehrte, im Kerker gefangen gehalten wurde, über dem im 17. Jahrhundert eine Kirche des Klosters Khor Virap errichtet wurde. Vom Kloster aus kann man den atemberaubenden Blick auf den biblischen Berg Ararat bewundern.
Vorbei an einer schmalen Straße, umgeben von Felsen aus hundert Höhlen, entdeckt man eine Szene der Harmonie der Architektur mit der Natur. Das Kloster, das mit feinen architektonischen Lösungen und luxuriösen Verzierungen ausgestattet ist, ist eines der hellsten Beispiele armenischer Architektur des 13. Jahrhunderts. Noravank besteht aus St. Karapet, St. Gregory The Illuminator Kirchen und St. Astvatsatsin (Heilige Mutter Gottes) zweistöckige Kirche, die sich durch ihre ideale konstruktive und skulpturale Arbeit auszeichnet.
Am 16. Oktober 2010 läuteten die Kirchenglocken in Tatew laut und läuteten damit den Start eines Programms zur Wiederbelebung einer mittelalterlichen Klosteranlage und die Eröffnung der Seilbahn "Flügel von Tatew" ein. Die 5,7 km lange Seilbahn, die innerhalb von 11 Monaten gebaut wurde, führt durch eine tiefe Schlucht des Flusses Vorotan und über Hügel, die mit üppigen Wäldern bedeckt sind. Die Straßenbahn wird von drei Türmen zwischen ihren beiden Terminals getragen. Ein Terminal befindet sich auf einem Hügel, mit Blick auf das Dorf Halidzor und das andere ist in der Nähe des Tatew-Klosters, auf der Straße zum Tatew-Dorf. Zwei Kabinen arbeiten gleichzeitig und fahren in entgegengesetzte Richtungen. Es gibt insgesamt 6 Kabel (3 pro Hütte), die jeweils speziell für die Spezifikationen dieses Projekts vorgesehen sind. Innerhalb von etwa 11 Minuten bringt eine Straßenbahn Hütte die Passagiere, 30 auf einmal, vom Dorf Halidzor zum herrlichen Komplex von Tatev.
Unter den architektonischen Säulen von Zangezour hat das Kloster Tatev nicht seine "Rivalen". Es war früher das reichste mittelalterliche Kloster Armeniens. Tatew war nicht nur ein religiöses Zentrum, sondern auch das wichtige strategische Zentrum des Königreichs Syunik. Das Kloster Tatev liegt auf einem natürlich verteidigten Platz und war schon immer eine uneinnehmbare Festung für Aliens. In instabilen politischen Verhältnissen führten mehrere geheime Wege auf dem Gebiet der Festung zum Canyon und dienten als Bindeglied zwischen dem Kloster und der Außenwelt.

I’m not sure how to put into words the most magical place in the world. My family of four went to Khor Virap, Noravank and had our final stop at Tatev. All the views were amazing but I want to mention Tatev mainly. The views were like nothing I have experienced in my life. Despite it being a 14/15 hour tour, I am so glad I booked this tour. This would be our 4th tour with Hyur this week and I would definitely say it was the best one yet! It’s a hike but it’s definitely a must!! Levon our driver was wonderful and Garen our tour guide did a fantastic job guiding. Thank you both for the safe ride and explanation!

This was an incredible tour and one I would recommend to anyone visiting Armenia. It take a you to the most beautiful and scenic areas, and well worth the long drive. Or guide was Karen and he was very knowledgeable and attentive. He also honoured us by singing a beautiful Armenian hym. We were also in very safe hands with our driver Levon, who drove incredibly on the twisting roads
I highly recommend this tour. Marina and Hovsep are an INCREDIBLE team. From start to finish, and between his professional and smooth driving skills and her total mastery as a tour guide and host, we were in perfect hands. This tour will start out at Khor Virap, one of the most famous monastic sites in all of Armenia due to its gorgeous view of Mount Ararat and its proximity to the Turkish border. Fascinating archaeology and history. Next it’s over to Noravank, located in a stunning setting. A first class lunch after that. I’m not kidding, this was amazing barbecue with all the fixings. Once everyone was good and fed, we were off to Tatev. Far flung, the journey there will give you a chance to really see the geographical gorgeousness of this country. And getting to the monastery itself is incredible. The Wings of Tatev ropeway is simultaneously peaceful and exciting, as you glide across this stunning gorge. Tatev itself is a very spiritual place, and you’ll have time to enjoy nature and learn about the religious history and architecture. If you’re on the fence, this tour is worth it. Maybe grab a doppio espresso before you board that bus! Just a thought! Thanks again to Marina and Hovsep for an unforgettable and first-class experience!!!

The tour guide was very informative , slightly laborious in English.. each stop there was enough time to listen to the information of the tour guide and explore by yourself. Lunch was very well provided for with free wine and brandy offered. My favourite stop was the Noravank monastery for the scenery. Overall worth the money. Slight downside was the people I was sat next to on the bus but the operator can't do much about that.
