We were the only 2 participants which was a bit of good luck. We enjoyed very much the warm welcome by Ngoc Dung and her sense of humor. She taught us in a very easy going way all the small details you need to learn when you are cooking vegatarian Vietnamese Food. We had a very well spent morning, which started on the market and ended with enjoying the best lunch we ever had …….made by ourselves ! Ha!

We met Dung at the market, where she walked us through the kiosks. She gave us much-needed context on the building itself and what is found there, including some exotic fruit. We were then driven to the culinary class by motorbikes. There, staff atrended to us as Dung taught us three meals, the vegetarian way. Not only was it a lot of fun, but everything tasted amazing ans everyone was super friendly! There was a small ceremony at the end with customized gifts, which we were frareful for. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in plant-based vietnamese food. You don't need to be a cook!
It was a very nice experience. I was finally able to ask everything I would like to know since my stay in Vietnam at the market and then I was allowed to make a delicious sweet and sour soup, fried spring rolls and deep-fried tofu skin with the cook. She could still give me good hints on how to find similar vegetables or spices in Germany and it was really super delicious! Thank you for the nice morning!🙏🏽
we was really happy with the cooking class. Ms. Ngoc Dung was very friendly and helpfully. she explainend a lot about the vietnamnese culture and cooking traditions, so we learned a few new things. the food was really delicious.

From market to table, this cooking experience was unbelievable. Knowledgeable in the Ben Thanh market helped me understand where the food vendors supplied food as well as the section, what to look for when looking for best fruit and vegetables, and suggestions for all the different spices made the experience more enjoyable. I was taught the vegetarian version way to cook spring rolls, salad, braise vegetables, dipping sauces, cutting pineapple, and Vietnamese crepe/pizza (paid extra). It felt like my mom was with me cooking in homeland because all the food was super tasty. I had an absolute feast and I think it was one of the best time I had while I was in Vietnam, helping me connect to my roots/heritage and it is something I will take home with me (along with the certificate, recipe book, and special designed gift). I can't wait to cook when I'm back home!

Quy was a fantastic teacher- we met at the market and she introduced/explained various Vietnamese foods and how they were used in cooking. We then made a selection of dishes at her house and shared the meal- great activity!
We had a great time with Ms Ngoc Dung and the other chefs of Mai Home. Unfortunately the Ben Thanh market was closed for Tet, but we were still able to learn how to cook a three course meal which was delicious!
