The stays at the visit sites were too short; the trip should only be advertised with two destinations so that one has more time on site. Due to the pickup of many guests, the trip was too long.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable full-day trip and I would recommend it. The places we visited were beautiful, and the guide was very friendly, helpful, and well-organized throughout the day. Be prepared to spend a significant amount of time traveling on the bus between destinations, as the journey itself makes up a large portion of the day. Also, the time at each stop can feel a bit short, so it's worth planning ahead. The stop in Chania takes place around lunchtime, but the time there is limited and restaurant prices can be quite high. The guide actually recommends having lunch at the next stop instead, so bringing some snacks can help you make the most of your time exploring Chania without feeling rushed. If you're planning to buy souvenirs, it's worth waiting until the last stop. There is plenty of time there and a large selection of shops, making it the best and most relaxed place to do your shopping. Overall, it was a great way to see several beautiful locations in Crete in a single day, and the experience was definitely worthwhile.
Our tour guide Maria was amazing, fun and knowledgeable. She told us about the history of the island, gave us insights on the the different stops we were going to visit during the tour and gave us pointers on where to go. She spoke various languages and made sure that everyone was alright and knew where to go, what to do, answered all questions, and even gave us her number in case we needed her while we were wondering around. The places we visited we beautiful and I didn’t feel like I was on a tour, I felt like I was out with my relative or a sister exploring a new place and experiencing a new adventure. She took the time with everyone so that we had a great time. She is with the Cretan Odyssey Company. She is a true gem who loves her job and meeting new people and showing us her beautiful country. I wish I could have met her sooner and spent my entire week touring with her. Thank you so much for making me feel like a family member, the laughs, the stories about Greece and giving me the opportunity for everlasting memories. You have to book this tour. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you Maria for a fabulous experience and tour.
Visit times are well adapted and well distributed throughout the day, for each of the 3 sites. Our guide, Elizabeth, was very pleasant and gave us explanations about the history of the Crete during the travel time. Once on site, everyone makes the visit at their own pace. Bus travel appreciated because difficult to travel by car in downtown La Canee and Rethymnon. We recommend without worry.
It was disappointing because I expected a small group tour and it was a double decker bus with at least 50 people. So little guidance by the tour guide. Glad to get to see the places we did but would have like a more personal experience.
Ms Rose, Thank you for participating in our tour. If you have a look again in our descritions, you will see that it is clearly mentioned that the group size is is 50-55 pax. We do not sell it as a small group tour, so i think your review is not fair. Any way i hope you enjoy the rest of holidays on Crete. Thank you
It’s a good way to experience the west side of Crete. The tour guide gave us good information about the cities we visited.
If you are delayed because you have lost your way, bad luck with your boat, ... which can always happen because you are in an unknown place then the bus leaves without you.. Yesterday we experienced that we had bad luck with our boat and because of that we were 10 minutes late plus 5 minutes searching where the bus is, we went to the taverna where the bus had dropped us off and there we are told that they have already left without us. Luckily those people had the number of our guide so we had the opportunity to contact her. She says she called us but we have since received nothing.. there we were in an unknown place, 3 hours away from our stay.. there are no buses available so the only option was a taxi.. a taxi to the next stop was €80 and a ride to our stay was €180... we just expected better communication, sorry this happened. I hope there's no one who has to go through the same thing as us.
Another great trip from this outstanding company I was in Koutouloufari, the mini bus transfer was on time, all the drivers are so friendly, and helpful. We then transferred into the larger coaches, The guides were so knowledgeable and interesting and each trip I went on I learned something new. The relaxed atmosphere and the stunning scenery made these days out so worthwhile Rethymno and Chania are both so beautiful and well worth visiting, and I could have stayed longer The whole day was truly special
The experience was really excellent. Visits to the different villages and the lake were very interesting, but what made the difference was Elisabeth. Throughout the journey, which was quite long, he was sharing cultural and historical explanations, as well as very useful recommendations. Their dedication and enthusiasm made the tour much more enriching and enjoyable. It was definitely a very nice experience that I would recommend.
The super nice guide. She was stopped by a traveler (2 meters tall - 130 kg style tree feller) we think he is American. He was accompanied by his wife. He was grumbling about the guide because she spoke too much in French what it takes and then he turned around on me and in English he told me it's my wife in a car because there are 50 people obviously I don't see very well or so have to close his eyes so I invite viator to check with the economic operator and guide the identity of this client because he disturbed strongly all my day
