Alex was a great guide, friendly and helpful with my dad who needed to rest towards the end. His historical knowledge was deep and told with a flair that kept it interesting instead of dry information. We were introduced to the different artesanas and the history of their processes and traditions, stopped for lunch and a drink and toured at our own pace. And in the end he even returned to our hotel because I forgot something in the car. Definitely do this tour If you want a prívate guided experience with an intelligent and fun guide!
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I also appreciate your attention and participation in our pleasant conversation, allowing us to explore the history and traditions of Mexico and Querétaro. It's always a pleasure to welcome such knowledgeable and friendly visitors as yourselves. Thank you, and I hope to welcome you back again. I'll be available whenever you need anything or would like to return to continue enjoying the magic and warmth of our country.
You get a private tour with Alex, your guide. He shares the history of 3 magical towns. Alex is a history buff and has A LOT to share. You can tell he likes his job and even goes into character as he relates a story. We enjoy learning Mexico's history so we liked his stories. It's OK to tell him you need a break to explore on your own. THINGS TO KNOW: It's an ALL day tour and there's traffic coming back so you get back to Qro. at 730ish, not 5pm. The 1st town Amealco is 8,500 above sea level so it gets cold. Towns are 45 min to 1 hr apart. The last town Bernal is the gem of the three, but we had less time there because there were many trivia-filled stops in the prior towns. Like all tours of this kind, the guides take you to their preferred restaurants, we enjoyed the restaurant in Amealco. The last town Bernal is your 2nd stop for food. I recommend that you research town food options before this tour and explore on your own. We found a great bakery there too called Abril. Overall a good history-filled tour.
Thank you so much for your review! I truly love doing this—sharing, talking, and showcasing the magic of Mexico through its ancestral traditions, culture, and the unique blend that makes us Latin Americans. I hope you had a wonderful experience and that you continue to visit the different places that Magical Mexico has to offer. I send you my best regards and thank you again for your comments.
I made my reservation and payment days in advance for September 27 because I was accompanied by an elderly person the day before I was sent digital tickets that never opened. They sent us to another app that never answered Customer Service. On the day of the tour we were waiting and we were never picked up at the hotel. Lost day with a senior citizen. I have sent the Customer Service the request for refund of the Service payment and I still do not receive any response. Very disappointing situation
This tour of three Pueblo Magicos - Amealco, Tequisquiapan, and Penal - was fantastic. My guide, Alejandro, was punctual and knowledgeable. The drive between locations was comfortable, taking about 45 minutes to an hour each. Alejandro shared the history of the Aqueduct of Querétaro before we left the city and provided insightful walking tours at each stop. Alejandro is a wonderful historian, and this tour is perfect for those interested in both the sights and the history.
Thank you so much for sharing your opinion and your kind words. My mission has always been to create personal experiences, a tailor-made experience, so that this short journey opens many doors to distant times and cultures that shaped our history and our identity. It's always my greatest pleasure to be able to share it with interesting and interested visitors. Thank you.
Really fantastic day with Alejandro! All 3 pueblos mágicos were great, and Alejandro had so much cool information to share about architecture and linguistics. He even happily took us to Starbucks after picking us up.
Thank you for your comments. It's very interesting to take these tours with people like you who are also familiar with history and traditions. It was and always will be a pleasure to meet people like you. I send you my warmest regards and hope you come back soon.
This was an amazing experience; it definitely exceeded our expectations. Alejandro is very knowledgeable and kind. In addition, he is fluent in both English and Spanish. During this private tour, Alejandro took us to special places in each one of the magic towns that we visited, while providing thorough information on culture, history and nature. We highly recommend this tour with Alejandro.
Thank you so much for your comments. It's always a great pleasure to share a bit of the magic of Querétaro and Mexico. I truly hope to create experiences for our kind visitors.
If you’re the kind of traveler who wants your tour guide to simply point out landmarks, crack a few jokes, and get you back to your hotel by sunset, this one might not be for you. But if you’re after the kind of day where history breathes, stories matter, and every village square feels like it has a soul — then buckle up. Alejandro isn’t just a tour guide. He’s part historian, part philosopher, part cultural diplomat — and somehow, still the guy you want to share a beer with at the end of the day. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, he picked us up from our hotel in Querétaro City in a clean, comfortable car, and what followed was less of a tour and more of a journey. First up: Amealco. A town that feels older than memory, where Otomí culture threads its way through the daily rhythm. Alejandro pulled the veil back on layers most tourists miss — from the politics of handcraft preservation to the quiet dignity of a doll-making tradition that speaks volumes without saying a word. Then Tequisquiapan — pastel-colored bliss and colonial charm with wine and cheese on the side. It’s easy to be seduced by the Instagrammable streets, but Alejandro made sure we didn’t just see the surface. He told the stories behind the stones, and why they still matter. And then there’s Bernal. The monolith looms, of course, but it’s not just a rock — not when Alejandro’s telling you the tales of pre-Columbian cosmology, Spanish conquest, and what it means to live in the shadow of something ancient. By the time we left, Peña de Bernal wasn’t just a mountain. It was a myth, a memory, a mirror. Throughout the day, Alejandro fielded every question we threw his way — about indigenous languages, colonial trauma, tacos vs. quesadillas — and answered them with patience, nuance, and the kind of depth that only comes from someone who’s lived the questions himself. There’s no script here. No cheesy jokes. Just one man, three pueblos, and a rich, complicated, beautiful country laid bare in the best possible way. Highly recommended? Yeah. But more than that — necessary.
Wow, what an extraordinary account of your experience. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this great review. I'm always fascinated by people who come here with that intention: to learn, enjoy, and get involved. You two are very kind people, and I really enjoyed sharing and hearing your questions and comments. Thank you for visiting and for being such interesting, warm, and decent people.
This was the best tour when you come to Queretaro. It was well worth every penny. Alejandro is the best and very animated in his history telling and plans the day out to the T. He has alot of connections in every town you visit which adds alot of extras to the tour. Indeed three magical cute towns each full of character.
Hello, good day. Thank you for your comments. It's always a pleasure to serve kind and caring people like you. I send you my warmest regards and invite you to continue visiting us and learning about our traditions, history, and current events in Queretaro and Mexico. Thank you both for sharing your own stories and giving me the opportunity to serve you.
Alex "the crazy" was the best tour guide we have had. The 3 locations were all very interesting, but Alex's extensive knowledge of history and several other disciplines, combined with a great sense of humor, made it a great day.
Alejandro Villar was our tour guide; he is very friendly and an excellent historian, he knows all about these towns. We visited these three amazing magical towns; Amealco de Bonfil, Tequisquiapan, and Bernal. We learned a lot about the history of these beautiful places. Thank you Alejandro for your patience and knowledge! We had an amazing and unforgettable tour.
Thank you for your kind attention and for choosing one of my routes. It's always a pleasure to serve you and share a little about our state and our country... Welcome, and come back soon.
