Der Tag beginnt damit, dass wir Sie zwischen 7:30 und 8:00 Uhr mit einem Minibus von Ihrem Hotel abholen. Sie müssen etwas Geduld mitbringen, da der Verkehr manchmal ein Problem darstellt, aber keine Sorge, wir holen Sie auf jeden Fall ab. Wir werden auch noch andere Reisende mitnehmen.
Ein natürliches, mineralreiches Kurbad Im Gegensatz zu Vulkankegeln, aus denen Lava austritt, ist El Totumo ein Schlammvulkan – eine Spalte in der Erde, aus der ständig mit Wasser und Gas vermischter Schlamm aus den Tiefen der Erde austritt. Größe: Es ist klein, etwa 15 Meter hoch und über eine Holztreppe erreichbar. Der Schlamm: Der Schlamm ist sehr zähflüssig, warm und reich an Mineralien wie Kieselsäure, Magnesium, Kalzium, Schwefel und Eisen. Dieser Zusammensetzung werden peelende, entgiftende und heilende Eigenschaften für Haut und Muskeln zugeschrieben. 2. Das Gefühl des Schwebens Das Faszinierendste daran ist die Dichte des Schlamms. Es ist so dick, dass man darin unmöglich untergehen kann. Wenn man in den Krater hinabsteigt, wird der Körper ganz von selbst im Wasser gehalten, was ein seltsames und wunderbar entspannendes Gefühl der Schwerelosigkeit hervorruft. Das Erlebnis Die Besucher steigen die Treppe hinauf bis ganz nach oben, steigen in den Krater hinab (der jeweils nur Platz für etwa 10 bis 15 Personen bietet) und tauchen in das schwimmfähige Schlammbad ein.

- Trinkgeld und die örtliche Bevölkerung: Die einheimische Bevölkerung dieses Dorfes ist vollständig von den wirtschaftlichen Aktivitäten rund um den Vulkan abhängig. Es kommt häufig vor, dass Anwohner anbieten, Ihnen beim Tragen von Gegenständen zu helfen, und anschließend um ein Trinkgeld bitten. Das Trinkgeld sollte freiwillig sein und nach Ihrem eigenen Ermessen gegeben werden. Um den Ablauf zu vereinfachen und unerwünschte Verkaufsversuche zu vermeiden, empfehlen wir dringend, den Vulkan ohne persönliche Gegenstände zu besteigen – tragen Sie einfach die Kleidung, in der Sie auch in den Schlamm gehen möchten.
- Massage und Peeling: Im Inneren des Vulkans gibt es Einheimische, die Massagen anbieten. Bitte geben Sie ganz klar an, ob Sie diese Massage und dieses Peeling wünschen oder nicht.
- Reinigungsservice: Beim Verlassen des Vulkans wird Ihnen eine Gruppe einheimischer Frauen anbieten, den Schlamm in einem natürlichen See von Ihrem Körper zu entfernen. Wenn Sie diesen Service nicht in Anspruch nehmen möchten, können Sie gerne selbst aufräumen.
- Zusatzkosten: Bitte beachten Sie, dass für jede Unterstützung, die Sie erhalten – unabhängig davon, ob sie vom Reiseleiter angeboten wird oder nicht – zusätzliche Kosten anfallen.

The mud bath experience was great. The tour guide was nice and friendly. I gave a 3 star rating because of our unpleasant experience with the local people asking for tips from each family member for each unsolicited little service they do. We said NO to massage and NO to touching. They asked 10 pesos (3 USD) for taking a few family photos but each family member had to pay the 10 pesos, mandatory. 10 pesos each for giving you a hand while getting out of the pool which was unnecessary, unsolicited and unexpected. 10 pesos for carrying your slippers down to the river when getting washed off, which we said we need to have and wear our slippers because it was too hot to walk down to the river barefooted. They refused to give us our slippers back, this was also mandatory so they can ask for money to carry them, when we really need to wear them for comfort. We feel like the tour company was telling us to pay the 10 pesos each service/each person whether we take the service or not. We understand the need to give a tip but it was the way they do it is what got me. They touch you or carry your slippers without being asked and there you go…you pay 10 pesos! That was the unpleasant experience we had otherwise we enjoyed the mud bath.

We had an amazing time with our driver Jesus and travel guide Ninche. However once it was over we were bombarded with the staff aggressively telling us we need to pay them tips not even giving us the opportunity to. Besides that it was a good mud experience. I would do it again

He rode with us in the car and on the bus, watched our belongings while we enjoyed the experience, and helped us navigate everything with ease, including how to tip and pay for things without any stress.
