I spent a lovely evening in Finland’s unspoiled wilderness, surrounded by deer and moose. We had great traveling companions, and Nelli was incredibly kind, skilled, and patient; she allowed us to soak up the peace of the woods while watching the majestic moose graze and move about, always keeping a watchful eye on us as we observed them. The Finnish dinner felt very cozy and intimate, and the fire was certainly welcome given the cold. I highly recommend visiting this area and seeing these animals. I also suggest taking the tour with Nelli—she is a genuinely sweet person with a lovely manner and a real passion for what she does.
We were picked up on time in an 8-seater bus (actually 2 buses as there were 16 in the whole group). Drove for about a hour to a remote coastal area where we had a 1km walk to the campfire area. We then had time to walk and see several deer in the wild before returning for the campfire dinner which was prepared by the guides - a variety of local savoury pastries (cheesy, meaty and veggie), sausages, and a really tasty local hot cheese (a bit like halloumi) with ginger crackers and red berry jelly. Half-an-hour before sunset we set off in the buses to find the moose. Over the next hour, we visited about 4-5 sites and saw 5 moose in total (mostly solitary but there was one 'couple'), and many more deer, before it got too dark to continue and we returned home shortly after midnight. Overall it was a good and worthwhile experience.

Our tour guide was Toni and we had a great time together in the nature of Helsinki. Toni was very friendly, knowledegable and thoughtful. We saw lots of moose and we stopped the care several times to take pictures or look through the binoculars Toni had provided for us. The atmosphere was very relaxed and laid back. Please come prepared and eat before the tour as the dinner snack was really just a small snack and not a proper meal. We came as a family and were a party of 7, but it doesn't matter if you are friends, coworkers or family. The experience speaks for itself!
