Der Freimaurerfriedhof wurde 1865 von der Großloge des Staates Louisiana Free and Accepted Masons gegründet und weist einen Charakter auf, der sich von den katholischen Friedhöfen unterscheidet, die die Stadt dominieren. Es ist bekannt für seine vielen ungewöhnlichen, kunstvollen Gräber, ein Ruf, der zum Teil auf die Gemeinschaft des Friedhofs zurückzuführen ist: Mitglieder von Lodges sammelten Ressourcen, um Gräber großer Gruppen zu kaufen. Der Friedhof, der zwei seltsam geformte Stadtblöcke einnimmt, ist dreieckig angelegt und wird von der Conti Street halbiert. Der dreieckige Fußabdruck der angrenzenden Straßen, der mit den eckigen inneren Gehwegen des Friedhofs überlagert ist, ahmt das freimaurerische Emblem des Platzes und des Kompasses nach. Gusseiserne Lattenzäune umschließen die beiden unterschiedlichen Abschnitte, während Eichen-Allées die nördlichen und westlichen Ränder säumen. Die Gräber sind kompakt in Reihen parallel zur Bienville Street angeordnet. Eine breite, gepflasterte Promenade schneidet durch die Mitte, um den Zugang zu kleineren Gehwegen zwischen den Reihen zu ermöglichen.

If you get a chance to pick which driver choose Roy he is the best he is the most thorough and has a lot of knowledge of New Orleans and has a great sense of humor and seems to enjoy doing these Tours. ROY ROCKS!!!!!!
OMG! Me, my husband and some friends went Saturday September 19, 2026. Ron was our tour guide in the blue bus and he was phenomenal! The music on the bus and his knowledge really set the mood! We had EMF trackers and they were lighting up by the suicide tree during our stop at the park. I just took a bunch of pics and when I was posting them on Facebook a few days later and I saw something weird. I zoomed in and you can see the side profile of a woman. I took the pic in night mode. You can see the side of her face, her long hair, her dress, her outstretched arm and her leg! She is just floating there! I couldn’t believe my eyes! Even without the ghost pic this tour was amazing thanks to Ron! Definitely recommend!
Ron was the best guide! He was really knowledgeable and the music on the tour bus really made it all come together! We got to do a little ghost hunting and I even caught a spirit in one of my pics! Highly recommend this tour!
We went to New Orleans for our anniversary trip and booked this tour last minute on our last night, and we were so glad we did! Our tour guide, Roy, made our experience so much fun! Cool experience to learn about tombs and burials in New Orleans. Wish it was more old cemeteries that we visited and not a mausoleum.
