Sie werden an der Piazza Guglielmo II abgesetzt. Hier können Sie die wunderschöne Kathedrale von Monreale besichtigen. Sie wurde in die Liste des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen und gilt als eine der bedeutendsten mittelalterlichen Kirchen der Welt. Die Mosaike der Kathedrale sind einfach einzigartig und perfekt. Gegen eine Gebühr besteht auch die Möglichkeit, verschiedene Bereiche des Doms, wie zum Beispiel die Terrassen, zu betreten. Angrenzend an die Kathedrale befindet sich das Kloster San Benedetto. Der Kreuzgang des Klosters hat einen quadratischen Grundriss im romanischen Stil und ist durch mehr als 90 mit Mosaiken und romanischen Kapitellen verzierte Säulen gekennzeichnet. In der Mitte des Kreuzgangs befindet sich ein Garten mit einem Brunnen in Form einer Palme, aus dem Wasser fließt. In der Nähe der Kathedrale befindet sich auch das interessante Diözesanmuseum. Von der Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II aus können Sie den Dom sehen und den berühmten Marmorbrunnen namens Fontana del Tritone bewundern. Lassen Sie sich das Belvedere nicht entgehen!
Die Route zur Besichtigung von Cefalù beginnt am Lungomare Giuseppe Giardina und führt bis zum Anfang der Via Vittorio Emanuele, wo die Häuser beginnen. Von hier aus unternehmen Sie einen Spaziergang durch die kleinen Gassen, die alten Häuser, die kleinen Geschäfte, die Restaurants und die Eisdielen. Auf halber Strecke der Via Vittorio Emanuele befindet sich das mittelalterliche Waschhaus, zu dem man über eine Treppe aus Lavastein gelangt. Wenn Sie hinter dem Waschhaus weitergehen, gelangen Sie zur Porta Pescara, einer Öffnung, von der aus Sie das Meer sehen können. Kurz nach der Porta della Pescara finden Sie auf der linken Seite die Piazza Marina mit der Anlegestelle des alten Hafens. Vom alten Hafen aus können Sie den faszinierendsten Teil von Cefalù sehen: die Häuser mit Balkonen direkt am Meer. Wenn Sie der Hauptstraße Corso Ruggero weiter folgen, befinden Sie sich nach wenigen Metern auf dem Rathausplatz, vor dem Sie die Kathedrale von Cefalù sehen können. Neben dem Dorf verfügt Cefalù über einen der schönsten Strände Siziliens mit weißem Sand und kristallklarem Wasser.

We saw two fantastic UNESCO sites on a day trip from Palermo: specifically, the mosaics at the 12th century cathedrals at Monreale and Cefalu, which were crafted collaboratively by Normans, Latins and Muslims. Also, got to explore the gorgeous streets and beaches of Cefalu, with time for a seaside lunch. Fabrice, our driver, was engaging and spoke fluent English. Terrific tour!

Our driver Sergio was very good. Monreale was pretty church with mosaics of the stations of the cross.
Monreale and Cefalu were great! Cefalu was exceptional with the beach, cathedral, and shopping/dining right by the sea. Mimmo was an excellent driver and very friendly who talked of the area and history along the way. The car was a Maserati which was clean and comfortable.

The operator failed to show up for our scheduled pickup. I tried to contact operator 3 times with no success. I called customer service with Viator who tried to contact operator. After waiting a full hour after the scheduled pickup, we gave up and asked Viator for a refund which we received 3 days later. Ruined our scheduled day in Sicily.

Sadly the Cathedral in Cefalu was closed when we arrived. Apparently it is closed each day from 1-3 and Viator and the driver should know this fact. We climb all the way to the cathedral only to be turned away as it was closed for daily siesta. Our driver, Michele, was not informative of the sites along the way as his English was not very good by his own admission. We ended the tour early because of it and so did not get our monies worth. Liked what we saw, but was not happy that Viator is misinformed about the temples and times they operate especially given the price we paid for the tour.
An excellent professional service from beginning to end. Francesco is a knowledgeable polite and helpful individual, his approach is completely flexible and relaxing, nothing is too much trouble. The car was immaculate, the journeys relaxing, the guide perfect.

Because I have some mobility issues, this was a great way to see Monreale. Plus driving in Palermo is sort of a nightmare, so to be able to glide through the chaos in an air conditioned Mercedes with a good drive: Perfetto! We had never been to the seaside of Cefalu was lovely. We had a walk along the Lungo Mare as well as gelato (and banana split!) in the Piazza di Duomo. Our driver was charming and helpful. Expensive but worth it for us!
Absolutely the most beautiful day from Palermo. Monreale and Cefalu are spectacular and not to be missed. Salvo, our driver, was fantastic. He was punctual, courteous and spoke good English. The cathedral in Monreale is breathtaking and Cefalu as picturesque in person as in the photos. We highly recommend this outing!
