Beschreibung

Great insight to Mayan culture!

Carlos was bursting with knowledge, eager to dispel the myths about Mayan culture. He was an incredible tour guide who brought history to life. Luis was an excellent driver, always ensuring the van's A/C was on to keep us cool after exploring the beach and ruins. Alma was so kind and caring, making sure everyone stayed together with the group and nobody got lost. It was an unforgettable adventure filled with amazing guides and unforgettable moments.

Good experience, but rushed

It was a great experience to see the Mayan Ruins. The tour guides were great, and communication of the plan for the day was excellent. The only reason I am giving this a 3, is because it was really hot, and we spent more time traveling on a bus and listening to the guide’s explanation of the history than getting to explore the ruins. It felt rushed when we finally got to the ruins.

Best Tour of the Ruins

Gabby, our tour guide, was so knowledgable and very friendly. She taught us so much about the local area as well as Mayan history. She showed us around the ruins as well as helped arrange for a delicious authentic tamale lunch and also stopped at a local fruit stand for the most delicious pineapple and mango. Daniel, our driver was also great! We felt very safe and cared for the whole time, the van was in good condition and the directions on getting to the meeting point from the port provided by the tour company were easy to follow and the whole welcome staff was helpful and kind. Definitely recommend!!

awesome time!

It was pretty hot as we just did this excursion at the end of June. Our travel guide Elisio was extremely friendly and so funny. As a Mexican American myself, he really made us comfortable. My mom who isn’t super mobile was able to most of the trek minus the last bit to the temple with stairs. The driver Daniel stopped on the way to the beach portion and got us fresh fruit from a street vendor and it was fantastic. Then we went to a nice restaurant and had a really great lunch. Totally recommend!!!

Great time at the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins! Would recommend to anyone wanting to see the temples and not pay too much!

It was a fantastic experience! My wife and I sailed with NCL Escape and wanted to see the ruin. This was an easy, affordable, and enjoyable option for us! Carlos, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the ruins and the Mayan culture. He gave us plenty of information and waited for us about 10-15 every stop to take pictures and walk around. Luis, our driver, watched our personal items on the bus, gave us cold waters at the end of the temple tour, and even stopped at a fruit stand to let us purchase mangos and pineapples from a local vendor. Since we opted out of the beach, he brought us back to the cruise port so we could shop and eat some food on our own. This is a must do if you are in Costa Maya!

The tour company as a whole was very accommodating. They provide you bottles of ice cold water which is included in the cost of the tour. The bus is large and had A/C. Our tour guide, Eliseo, was amazing! On our ride over, he talked a lot about the history of Mexico and the Mayan people. He even had print outs of various pictures in a binder to reference and you could definitely tell he was very passionate about sharing his culture. Overall it was a great experience and we recommend!

Awesome family experience!

Transportation was provided to and from the ruins. We were a group of 8 and there was another family of 4 that toured with us. We all fit comfortably in the air-conditioned van. Free bottled water was provided for the ride. Other drinks were offered but we only drink water. The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. He gave lots of interesting information about the history of the site and answered our questions. We sprayed ourselves with bug spray before our tour but bug spray was also available for purchase (but much more expensive). However the bugs were not that bad. We saw several spider monkeys up in the trees at the ruins. That was pretty cool! There are multiple mounds to view at the ruins and some with steep rocky steps. You don’t have to climb them but if you do then good walking shoes or sneakers are needed. This was an awesome place to visit! There were clean bathrooms, a restaurant and a few small shops on site but everything was in pesos. On the way back our driver stopped at a fruit stand on the side of the road that takes USD and we were able to buy fresh fruit. A bag of mango was $3 and a bag of pineapple was $2. Absolutely a must! Overall this was a great family experience!

Mayan Ruins

This is my second time around and was just as mesmerizing. Brought the entire family this time. The tamales were so delicious, authentic! Our guide was native believe his name is Arturo and spoke English well, very knowledgeable on explaining what each site represents and how they came about using it. Being able to touch and stand where my ancestors once stood is an indescribable feeling. Be ready for a workout when claiming those stairs. So worth it when you reach the top. Totally would recommend over and over!

Get some culture

I enjoyed this much more than drinking on another beach. Our guide was great. Bus ride was just long enough for a little nap which was great

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and a delight to learn from. The ruins were amazing. I’m sure if time allowed, we would have spent even more time there.
